Like any other party, whatever prize at stake is automatically forfeited ‘pag wala ang tao whose name is called at raffle time.
In the spirit of fun, even the three major hosts—or shall we say, the pillars of Eat Bulaga—are like everyone else who get just as thrilled.
One thing’s consistently nice about EB’s yearly Christmas parties, nagpupuyat kung nagpupuyat din daw si Mr. Tony Tuviera who never leaves the event until it’s bye-bye time, hitsurang abutin ng madaling-araw.
UPON COLLEAGUE ED Littlefield’s invitation, sumama kami en route to Angeles City, Pampanga kung saan selebrasyon ng kanyang long-time friend, one named Cynthia Sol. All that I remember of her, minsan na siyang isinama ni Ed sa Startalk years ago.
Sixty fifth birthday pala ‘yon ng kung tawagi’y Mamita, Mommy Cynthia o Tita Cynthia: her forms of address are just as many as her talents. Owner of the Meanwhile Bar & Lounge situated right behind the Casino Filipino, dating dancer si Tita Cynthia sa Clover Theatre before she got discovered by LVN Studios.
Her biggest break though came when she worked as a performer abroad, age 17 when Tita Cynthia became a byword in several parts of Asia within the entertainment circle, thus, she was labelled the “The Dancing Queen”.
Hindi na nagtaka ang inimbitahang press to her lounge as they bore witness to Tita Cynthia’s still holding on to her monicker sa kabila ng kanyang edad. Was she lying about her age, na nakakaya pang umindak, lumiyad, and most of all, mag-split?!
Married to a British national named Geoff Cole, who stands 6’3” lang naman, the mid-sexagenarian imparts to us an important lesson about life: be happy. Kitang-kita naman ‘yon sa aura ni Tita Cynthia, dressed in 1920’s with a cheerful stance, sticking her tongue out like a teenybopper na bibihira sa kanyang mga kaedad.
Pero keri, ‘teh!
OF LATE, HINDI masyadong nag-iingay ang TV5 except for the continuing legal saga na kinapapalooban ng Willing Willie which—on two occasions—has scored against ABS-CBN sa isyung copyright infringement.
And what to answer lalo’t napaka-basic na ng tanong ng cross-examining lawyer?
ABS-CBN believes so, but the host himself thinks otherwise.
Sa bandang huli—and this being said repeatedly—sa kasaysayan ng creative thinking, will somebody please come forward and say his idea is entirely original?
NOT HAVING BEEN sworn in yet, pero winelkam na ng Entertainment Press (EnPress) ang inyong lingkod bilang isa sa anim nitong bagong kasapi. Ang naturang grupo, now seven years old, led by Jun Nardo ang nasa likod ng taunang Golden Screen Awards both for TV and movies.
Held at the Baliwag Grill & Restaurant along E. Rodriguez in Quezon City, umulan ng ilang rounds ng pa-raffle. Even its new members were included. Dinagsa rin ‘yon ng ilang celebrities, the last to have left ay si Ms. Malou Choa-Fagar of TAPE, Inc.
Again, I hope I can be more of an asset to the group than an ass…le, he-he-he!
