HINDI PA MAN nakaka-recover ang bansa natin mula sa mabagsik na hagupit ni Ondoy ay muling sinubok ni bagyong Pepeng ang katatagan o kahinaan natin.
But calamities such as Ondoy and Pepeng bring out the best in Filipinos. There are numerous stories of heroism that will forever inspire us to keep on believing in the goodness of God and people.
We have seen the heroic deeds of people who selflessly volunteered to give their time, money and efforts to the hapless victims of the recent disasters. Taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa ABS-CBN big bosses led by ABS-CBN Chairman Mr. Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio, Channel Head Cory Vidanes at lahat ng mga officers ng ABS-CBN; Sagip-Kapamilya Program Director Tina Monzon-Palma; sa mga production assistants, walk-in volunteers, corporate and individual donors at mga artistang nag-donate, namahagi ng mga relief goods, sumali sa fund raising telethon at sumagip ng kanilang kapwa sa kasagsagan ng bagyong Ondoy at Pepeng. Mabuhay kayong lahat!
Sa aking palagay ay malaki ang naitutulong ng star power ngayong panahong ito. Aside from asking their product endorsements for donations ay napaliligaya rin ng mga artista ang mga tao with their presence during relief operations.
Some of the Kapamilya stars who helped (and who continuously help) in the relief operations are Kris Aquino, KC Concepcion, Angel Locsin, Piolo Pascual, Aga Muhlach, Charlene Gonzalez, Edu Manzano, Jake Cuenca, Shaina Magdayao, John Prats, Dominic Ochoa, Zanjoe Marudo, Vhong Navarro, Ejay Falcon, Matt Evans, Melissa Ricks, Jason Gainza, Bayani Agbayani, Maricar Reyes, Mark Bautista, to mention a few.
KC is the United Nations Ambassador Against Hunger. Nagtungo siya kamakailan sa NAIA kasama si Mr. Steven Anderson, World Food Programme Country Director, para salubungin ang eroplanong may dalang energy biscuits for the victims.
Angel Locsin has been actively participating in relief operations in Payatas. She sent text messages asking her friends to help typhoon victims. Nakasuot pa nga siya ng bathing suit for rescue operations. A reliable source told me that Angel donated a huge amount of money for the victims.
Filipinos remain resilient and hopeful. Alam kong muli tayong babangon pagkatapos ng mga pagsubok na ito. Lagi kong sinasabi na sa gitna ng ganitong sakuna ay dapat maging kalmado tayo. At makinig tayo… baka may nais iparating sa atin ang Diyos.
