ADMITTEDLY UPSET kami with Ate Gay’s “attitude problem,” mas idol pa mandin namin ang hitad than Vice Ganda who has to resort to pang-ookray of sorts in an attempt to be humorous, as opposed to the nagpupumilit-maging-look-and-sound-alike ni Nora Aunor who—sa itsura pa lang—ay nakakatawa na.
Both gay comedians are products of comedy bars. What sets Vice Ganda and Ate Gay apart is that the latter is audience-friendlier whose brand of humor—outright katsipan as it obviously is—comes from his pinausong mash-ups.
Hindi man aminin ng dalawang hitad, there exists a raging rivalry between the two of them. But the fact though is, milya-milya na ang layo ni Vice Ganda whose career is on the upswing while Ate Gay is still on “per TV appearance basis,” no regular assignment, no stable income source, to be blunt about it.
Recently, a TC (talent coordinator) of GMA’s Celebrity Bluff contacted Ate Guy for a one-time guesting. Una muna niyang inalam ang kanyang partisipasyon. Aware of the program format, Ate Gay was haggling for a celebrity appearance, hindi ang mapabilang lang sa mga contestant.
After some prodding, napapayag din si Ate Gay to settle for a contestant. Pero inalam muna niya who else was in the lineup. The program TC was honest enough to rattle off the names na makakasamang maglaro ni Ate Guy that included Kim Idol, Osang and Petite: all gay comedians na produkto rin ng mga comedy bar here and there.
Instantly, there was resistance on Ate Gay’s part upon knowing his would-be fellow contestants. Kesyo hindi raw niya ka-level ang mga ‘yon, citing his achievements in showbiz. Kesyo nakapag-major concert na raw siya, sikat na siya, iba na raw ang status niya and a host of other self-proclaimed kayabangans in the world.
So, is this the now-popular gay comedian na may mga kung anu-anong demands before accepting any TV guesting? Hoy, bakla… wala ka pang napapatunayan para magmaganda!
JANUARY 26 is Judgment Day as far as noontime programming is concerned. Ito kasi ang simula ng paglipat ng binago ring palabas ni Willie Revillame now titled Wowowillie (formerly Wil Time Big Time) which will be up against GMA’s Eat Bulaga and ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime.
Needless to say, dito na malalaman kung alin sa dalawa—hindi sa tatlo (as we very well know na hindi natitinag ang EB)—will rate next to their strongest opponent. Predictably so, walang dudang aalagwa ang kay Kuya Willie, what with its primetime viewership to this day ever since he transferred to TV5 in 2010 via Willing Willie.
Sa trade launch na idinaos ng Kapatid Network at the Resorts World Manila last Tuesday, Kuya Willie was not able to make it, instead ay ipinalabas ang kanyang pag-ii-standupper while showing the interiors of the Wowowillie Theatre (formerly Delta Theatre) which will be the home of his noontime show. At the same time, ipinakita rin ang ongoing construction nito in preparation for the big event.
2013 GSMI Calendar Girl Georgina Wilson recently hosted the grand presscon of the world’s largest-selling gin to announce the highly anticipated Ginuman Fest to kick off tomorrow, January 19.
