We can only pray and hope for the best.
The month of January was named after the Roman god Janus. In Roman mythology, he is “the god of good beginnings.” He is the doorkeeper of heaven and the god of beginnings and endings. May dalawang mukha ang kanyang estatwa, one on each side. His figure represents time dahil nakikita ng kanyang mga mukha ang nakaraan at ang future. Janus symbolizes what happened in the old year while looking forward to the new one.
Kagaya ni Janus, mayroon ding dalawang mukha ang showbiz: the crying masked face and the laughing one.
Celebrities are public figures. The prying eyes of the public are always on them whether they like it or not. No matter how much they would like to keep their personal affairs private ay hindi nila ito puwedeng itago sa mapagmasid na publiko. Kaya nga hindi madali ang maging artista because being a celebrity comes with a high price.
I always say that the world of showbiz is fascinating. Nakaaaliw at nakababaliw.
You might be dying of fatigue and hunger but once the cameras start to roll, you leave every tired bone and muscle behind. You try to smile and face the cameras as if nothing happened. In this business, we smile if asked to, we cry if need be, we scream even if our heart is bleeding or we mourn even when we are at our happiest.
Let us look forward to a brighter and bigger 2010 with hopes for peace and prosperity for all. May the movie industry produce more quality films that will showcase the Filipino talent. I hope the international music scene will open its elusive doors to more Filipino artists. More recognition to Pinoys abroad. Please no more disasters like typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng which affected millions of homes, communities, properties and life. Hindi ba mas masarap umpisahan ang taon if you start on the right foot? Mas masarap ngumiti kesa sumimangot. Sabi nga nila, it takes more facial muscles to frown than to smile. Subukan mo, kaibigan.
Happy New Year!
Kaibigan, usap tayo muli!
