Si Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ang napili nina Direk Erik Matti at Dondon Monteverde na magbida sa historical movie na tungkol sa buhay ng bayaning si Gat Andres Bonifacio. ‘May Pag-Asa‘ ang title ng pelikula at ito na rin ang hudyat ng pagbabalik sa big screen ni Yorme.
“For months my business partner and director Erik Matti and I were trying to figure out who could best portray the role of Andres Bonifacio on our very first historical film venture Maypagasa, There is Hope. After months of deliberation, our hands down choice is non other than the Honorable Mayor of Manila Isko Moreno,” pahayag ng Reality Entertainment Inc. producer.
Ayon pa kay Dondon, bukod sa magkahawig talaga sina Isko at Andres ay magkapareho din sila sa maraming bagay.
“The picture shows the close resemblance of the two great men of action and not men of words when it comes to getting things done. Both Bonifacio and Yorme were both born in Tondo, Manila. Both were also theater actors.
“These are just some of the natural qualities both men have in common. Erik and I are thankful that Yorme has committed to the project and is ready to go back again to his love of acting for the big screen,” pahayag pa niya.
Reaksyon naman ni Direk Erik, “Grateful to be helming this epic amidst all the uncertainties of the film industry. But during war or famine, the resilient ones should always soldier on for things to continue and be revitalized.
“We want to be able to tell a story about Bonifacio that hasn’t been taught in schools and has never been seen in the many Bonifacio movies made in the past. And we want to make this particular Bonifacio movie relevant to the year 2021.”
Labis na ikinatuwa ni Yorme na siya ang napiling gumanap na Andres Bonifacio.
“Maraming salamat kina Direk Erik Matti, Dondon Monteverde, and his group and, of course, to the family of Andres Bonifacio because I was told na bagay na bagay raw sa akin yung Andres Bonifacio, dala ng hugot ko sa buhay o ng mga karanasan ko, marami kaming similarities.
“I’m honored and humbled for this opportunity. It’s going to be very challenging, but I hope I can live up to your expectations. I will do my best. But one thing is for sure, may mga portion na madali ko nang magagampanan,” reaksyon ni Isko.
Ayon pa kay Isko, perfect ang title ng gagawin niyang biopic na ‘May Pag-Asa’
“The working title is perfect, that there is hope. Kailangan magkaisa. Sana matutunan natin ang kasaysayan. Sana kapulutan natin ng aral ang kasaysayan, lalo na ang kasaysayan ni Bonifacio.
“Kapag tayong mga Pilipino, nagkahiwa-hiwalay, mananaig yung mga mananakop at naipakita yan ng kasaysayan natin. I think we should learn our lesson to help one another, to fight against the common enemy. In this case, in our time, it’s COVID-19, the real enemy. Makakamit din natin yung kalayaan laban sa pandemyang ito,” sambit pa ng akalde ng Maynila.
Wala pang binanggit sina Direk Erik at Dondon kung sino ang magiging leading lady ni Isko sa Maypagasa na magsisimula na ang syuting sa huling linggo ng June 2021. May request naman si Isko kay Direk Erik pagdating sa kanyang schedule.
“When I said yes to them, sabi ko, top priority is yung schedule ko regularly sa city government because the people of Manila deserve better things from their government.
“So, yung mga libre kong oras, and most of it sa gabi, yun naman ang schedule ng shooting. Ginawan ng paraan ni Direk Erik Matti,” sabi pa ni Isko.
