“This is because according to the Church, the Priest symbolizes Peace and Order, therefore, they should not be seen with a deadly weapon.”

Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr. MD (Mayor Jun) CMO-PIO (Jan. 22, 2014): A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR JUN AMANTE Good day, dear friends. The TD AGATON has left but a new LPA is developing. And it has inflicted more damage and has affected more Butuanon lives than ever before… It has displaced more than 20,000 families and its complications may even persist for a few more days. The City Gov’t has already given several rounds of relief goods distribution together with the Congressional Office of Cong. Fortun, ABS-CBN, TV5, DSWD, PNP, PA, SDA, Equiparco, Madyaw Const., Fil-Chinese Chamber, and so many donor organizations and institutions and even families and friends. But the effects of flooding may persist for days to come. I certainly believe that this unifying moment can bring us much closer to still even work together and help one another. Please help our unfortunate families in times like this. They need hot meals like champorado, binignit or pospas which you can directly serve in the 94 evacuation sites, good rice, canned goods other than sardines, mineral water especially for kids, mats and blankets, slightly used clothes, milk for children, coffee and sugar, and most of all your love and prayers to sustain them through the storm. The city hall basement is open to receive your donations. My dear Butuanons, si Mayor Amante kini…daghan kaayong salamat. God bless Butuan!
