MAKARAAN NG tatlong buwan, TV5’s Artista Academy has produced a new pair of homegrown artists as the biggest artista search — so it claims to be — adjudged in last Sunday’s Final Night the Best Actor and the Best Actress winners.
Sina Sophie Albert at Vin Abrenica ang mga nagwagi sa major titles, with each of them richer by P10 million in prizes at the night of the nights held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

NEGOTIATING FOR Mario Maurer’s doing a film under Star Cinema was a piece of cake as far as the local think tanks are concerned.
Led by Enrico Santos, nakipag-usap sila siyempre sa mga taong nasa likod ng career ni Mario, who’s a Thai superstar. Upon return, Enrico commissioned a writer (the same playwright of Star Cinema’s The Mistress) named Vanessa to finish the script in 10 days. Prior to this, malinaw na sa writer kung ano ang mga gagampanang karakter nina Mario at Erich Gonzales sa Suddenly It’s Magic.
The script had to be translated en toto into Thai language, agad naman ito nakakuha ng seal of approval mula sa kampo ni Mario, hence, the filming. May mga eksenang kinunan siyempre sa Thailand, as Mario’s role is a local actor there who chooses to come to the Philippines where he meets Erich who plays a pastry chef.
The other cast members only have praises for Mario, tulad na lang ni Cacai Bautista who sums it all up: kind, gentlemanly, professional, and most of all, uncomplaining even under 38 degrees in temperature when there were scenes shot against a backdrop of windmills in Ilocos Norte.
Asked what Filipino words he learned during the filming, sey ni Mario, “Sabeee?! ‘Coz everybody’s saying that.”
