IT’S OFFICIAL: BTS is chosen as Time Magazine’s Entertainer of the Year!
The good news was confirmed through a feature article released by TIME Magazine through their official website last night. 2020 might have been a challenging year globally, but BTS’ dedication in improving their craft and making their fans a.k.a. the ARMY less lonely by producing more content made them the biggest band in the world right now.
Just this year alone, the group was able to produce two albums: ‘Map of the Soul: 7’ in February and the lockdown mini-album ‘BE’ which was released on November 30.
BTS was able to share positive vibes through their first all-English track ‘Dynamite’. The song debuted #1 at the Billboard Hot 100 (the first Korean act to do so) and now, the song is nominated in the GRAMMYs. The group’s newest single ‘Life Goes On’ also debuted at #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 last year and it is the first Korean track to do so. Isn’t that impressive?
TIME’s feature article on BTS also mentioned the humble beginnings of the group, how they influence the ARMY positively, the group’s team work and sacrifices behind the scenes, their involvement in important causes like the Black Lives Matter, and their record-breaking online concerts (Bang Bang Con: The Live in June and Map of the Soul ON:E in October).
When the never-ending comparison to The Beatles was raised, member V expressed that he is honored to be compared to the Fab 4, but he also pointed out their obvious differences.
“What’s different is that we’re seven. We also dance, sing, and appear on entertainment shows. We show our chemistry a lot, and we live life to the fullest in various ways. Life goes on.” V said in the interview.
RM, the group’s leader added: “I think that’s just kinda like a cliche of after The Beatles and we’re just some boys from Korea who love music and performance. That’s it.”
