L AGUNA (THIRD District) Board Member Angelica Jones made it to her Startalk TX live guesting in the nick of time. Suma-bay kasi ang matinding buhos ng bagyong Ferdie, na sa halip na sa gitna ng programa ang segment intended for Angelica, isina-lang na ito sa bandang huli.
As earlier reported, Angelica is seven months heavy with a child by a 34 year-old doctor and at the same time a councilor of San Jose, Batangas named Dr. Gerald Alday. Upon seated, kumpleto nang inilatag ni Angelica ang mga detalye ng kanyang pagbubuntis, not that she’s naturally gifted with gab, but because — being the writer assigned to the segment — she had earlier requested that the lineup of questions be emailed to her.
To a certain extent, nakabuti na rin ang paghahanda ni Angelica — dressed in an empire-cut maternity dress with her protruding tiyan, with her looks that could pass for a bloated, floating victim of fatal flashfloods — to tighten the segment in the show na kulang na sa oras.
As usual, Angelica has never failed to amuse us. Nitong Marso raw nu’ng nagkaroon sila ng alitan ng kanyang nobyo, so by simple arithmetic ay ilang buwan na pala silang walang komunikasyon despite what that certified bachelor had done to her.
Pinlano na rin daw nina Angelica at Gerald ang kanilang pag-iisang-dibdib to take place on January 8, 2013, but given their misunderstanding, ani Angelica ay mukhang hindi na raw matutuloy ang kanilang altar date sa — take note — “cathedral church” somewhere in Laguna.
Yes, cathedral na, church pa. Wala bang chapel to make it “cathedral church chapel”? Now two months away from her delivery, saan kayang “hospital medical center clinic” iluluwal ni Angelica ang kanyang firstborn na balak niyang pangalanang Angelo?
COINCIDING WITH her 60th birthday last February nang huling mapanood sa GMA ang pamamaalam ni dating Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV na si Wilma V. Galvante sa pamamagitan ng isang mala-tribute in her honor.
After all, Ma’am Wilma had served as a prime mover sa likod ng ‘di mabilang na programa sa GMA that had seen favourable ratings, making the network even more competitive as it should be.
Admittedly, WVG — as a corporate form of address — was sorely, and is still missed by us, kaming mga nakatrabaho niya sa GMA. Kaya naman seeing her seated sa launch ng Artista Academy ng TV5 (which premieres this July 30 hosted by Marvin Agustin) not just brought back fond memories ng aming pinagsamahan, it also made us happy seeing her with her renewed sense of enthusiasm and passion for TV.
Sa wakas kasi, naisakatuparan na ni Ma’am Wilma ang kanyang pa-ngarap na maitatag ang Philippine Academy for Television Arts (along with TAPE, Inc. producer Tony Tuviera and King of Talk Boy Abunda) which now serves as a tool in helping promote TV5’s Artista Academy that calls itself the biggest artista search in the country.
In hindsight, nasa GMA pa noon si Ma’am Wilma when the network saw the birth of Starstruck na meron ding ganitong peg. Now a consultant to yet another venue for discovering the next important batch of new stars, noon pa sinasabi ni WVG na para hindi na nanghihiram o namimirata ang TV5 ng mga artista mula sa GMA at ABS-CBN, it’s about time it reinforced an academy-based artista quest with a holistic approach.
More than Ma’am Wilma’s valuable contribution in her consultancy, masaya kami na nakita namin siyang muli. About three tables apart from where we were seated at the launch venue, nilapitan namin siya — with a TV5 jacket that covered her sleeveless dress — just to say hi and we missed her.
