DIREK GB SAMPEDRO and Candy Pangilinan are inseparable. Habang tumatagal ay lalong tumitibay ang kanilang relasyon. Ngayon, they are also business partners sa kanilang Five2Seven Entertainment Production which is organizing the University of Santos Tomas’ 400 Years celebration. Direk GB is the overall director of the show while Candy is the Creative Director.
Although Candy is a UP graduate, sinabi niyang malapit sa kanyang puso ang UST because her family is very close to the Dominicans. Likewise, GB studied at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran which is also run by the Dominican priests.
UST will celebrate its Quadricentennial in 2011. Magsisimula ang countdown today, December 18, with a festive celebration at the UST Grandstand. The theme of the grand event is “400 Years Celebration of Unending Grace”. Ilulunsad during the countdown ang Quadricentennial Prayer, ang Quadricentennial Song, ang Quadricentennial Flag at ang Quadricentennial countdown clock.
Maraming activities ang naka-line-up gaya ng parada ng 400 katao na kinabibilangan ng mga theater groups, high school students, dance troupes, UST Marching Band at students of different colleges. Some 400 students will light candles symbolizing the spark and the light of Christmas and Christianity. Sina Miriam Quiambao at Kuya Kim Atienza ang main hosts ng celebration samantalang si JC Cuadrado ang segment host.

Ang UST ay isang Pontifical at Royal University dahil ito ay kinikilala ng Roma. It is run by the Order of Preachers and founded on April 28, 1611 by Archbishop Miguel de Benavides. Sinabi ni Fr. Didoy na bago sila mag-elect ng rector, ang listahan ng mga kandidato ay ipinapadala muna sa Vatican. Likewise, the university’s curriculum and the general statute must be approved by Rome before they can be changed. The same with the membership of the UST Corporation and the Board of Trustees. Ang UST ay tatlong beses na binisita ng dalawang Santo Papa: si Pope Paul VI noong November 28, 1970 at si Pope John Paul II noong February 18, 1981 at January 13, 1995. It is also the only university that offers ecclesiastical degrees.
UST has a long list of illustrious students like Dr. Jose Rizal, Marcelo H. del Pilar, Emilio Jacinto, Antonio Luna, Apolinario Mabini, Claro M. Recto. Sa showbiz, nandyan sila Piolo Pascual, Sarah Geronimo, Charlene Gonzales, Miriam Quiambao, Precious Lara Quigaman, Aiza Seguerra, Albert Martinez, Dominic Ochoa, Eula Valdez, Maricar Reyes, Iza Calzado, Jaime Rivera, Jao Mapa, Kim Atienza, Isay Alvarez, Robert Sena, Jojo Alejar, Rachelle Lobangco, among others.
