I LOVE WATCHING cooking shows on TV and I am a fan of culinary star Giada de Laurentiis. The way she presents and cooks in her shows Everyday Italian, Behind the Bash, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, Giada in Paradise and Giada at Home is simply amazing. Since I talk more than I cook, inaabangan ko ang araw when I could interview her and taste her superb Italian food.
Hindi man ako ang hari sa kusina pero I still get a taste of culinary pleasure. I used to assist Krissie in the cooking segment of Boy & Kris. Nag-guest din ako sa pilot episode ng “Tablescapes, Life on a Plate” hosted by Angel Aquino and Chef Bruce Lim which was shot in the picturesque island of Camiguin at sa cooking show ni Janice de Belen na Spoon on Net 25 where we cooked paksiw na bangus.
Ang sarap sigurong magluto. Kaya nga kahanga-hanga ang mga celebrity homemakers na mahilig at masarap magluto tulad nina Ai-Ai delas Alas, Sharon Cuneta, Tintin Bersola-Babao, Judy Ann Santos, Janice de Belen, Gelli de Belen, Amy Perez at Danica Sotto. They find time to pursue their interest in cooking kahit abala sila sa kanilang pamilya at career. Hindi biro na pagsabay-sabayin ang mga ito. Sa katunayan nga ay nag-aral pa sina Aileen, Kris, Tintin, Janice at Danica sa isang sikat na professional culinary school. Gayundin si Juday who took up a culinary arts course. Ngayon, Aileen has her Ai-Sarap and Danica owns D’café.
Speaking of Janice, she recently hosted the UFC Tomato Sauce Guisado Guessado Cook-off at Market! Market! The cook-off also featured performances of Raymond Lauchengco, Manilyn Reynes, Jolina Magdangal and Jan Nieto. UFC Tomato Sauce Guisado is the newest product in the market that is specially blended to capture the true guisado taste at perfect sa mga lutuin gaya ng menudo, afritada, mechado, kaldereta at giniling.
One is a traditional homemaker who believes that good tomato-based dishes only come when you sautee real onions, garlic and tomatoes while the other is a modern housewife who is open to trying out new things if it would mean spending less time in the kitchen and more quality time with the family. Ikaw, alin ka sa dalawa?
Kaibigan, usap tayo muli!
