CHARICE’S LONG-TIME DREAM to perform in-front of her kababayans was finally fulfilled when she recently staged her first major concert titled Charice: The Journey Begins at the SMX Convention Center. Isa ako sa mga masuwerteng nakapanood ng kanyang concert and this young girl definitely has enough grit to make her a big, big star.
Charice proved that she is indeed “the most talented girl in the world.” Umpisa pa lang ng kanyang concert, pinabilib na niya ang mga manonood when she performed a signature hit And I’m Telling You. She did a duet with Christian Bautista at nakasama rin niya sa isang production number ang mga kaibigan at kasabayan niya sa Little Big Star. Unfortunately, the concert’s special guest, Asia’s Songbird Ms. Regine Velasquez, wasn’t able to make it because she was hospitalized. Instead, Pop Diva Ms. Kuh Ledesma came in her stead and sang Anak with Charice.
One of the concert’s highlights was Charice’s duet with Mommy Racquel. Hindi napigilan ni Charice ang mapaiyak when they sang Maghintay Ka Lamang na naging malapit sa puso nilang mag-ina. The song served as an inspiration for them when they were still struggling to be noticed by the industry and the public.
Charice’s success story is an inspiration for all. With her Little Big Star performance of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You posted on the YouTube, naging sunud-sunod na ang mga international achievements ni Charice. She guested on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Paul O’Grady Show; naging laman din siya ng mga news programs abroad like E-News Daily 10 USA, CNN Korea, and France News; nakipagsabayan sa mga big stars tulad nina Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, David Foster, Alicia Keys at opera singer Andrea Bocelli; and she has an upcoming Hollywood debut film titled Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel.
The young singing sensation has successfully broken the impregnable international music scene but she remains the sweet, little girl in the eyes of Mommy Racquel. Sabi nga ni Mommy Racquel kay Charice, “Kung ano ang nakita mo ngayon, gusto ko pagbaba mo ng stage ay ikaw pa rin si Charice hanggang sa matagal pa na panahon.”
