KILALANG PERENIALLY late si Janno Gibbs, but gone are the days of his tardiness whenever he reports on the set of his TV show.
How Janno was able to correct that habit had reportedly a lot to do with a directive from GMA top management.
Pero ang pagiging on time na ni Janno—if not his being punctual—ay hindi sapat para hindi siya pagmalasakitan ng kanyang mga katrabaho. Nakausap namin kamakailan ang isang kapwa niyang mang-aawit who’s more worried about Janno’s heavy weight, add to this ay ang nagbago nang magandang tinig nito.
“Alam mo, sayang si Janno, he has one of the best voices among our local male singers, if not the best voice,” malungkot na sabi ng kanyang kasamahan sa isang programa sa GMA. “What’s making things even worse, halatang dala niya hanggang trabaho ang sinapit ng marriage nila ni Bing (Loyzaga).”
Kung makikita raw these days si Janno, sobrang mataba na ito. And to conceal his size, kahit daw mainit ang panahon ay naka-jacket ito.
Tanong namin, how are Janno and Bing nga ba as an estranged couple?
“They live in separate houses, pero halos magkapitbahay lang sila. I think more than him, Bing has already moved on sa nangyari sa kanila. Since ang taba ngayon ni Janno, his friends would always invite him to go jogging. But he would always say, ‘next time na lang’. Naku, kelan pa ‘yung next time na ‘yon.”
Sabi nga naming mga singer, marami tayong singer sa Pilipinas, pero you have to make a difference with your tone. Kay Janno ko nakita ‘yon, na ang wala ang karamihan sa mga male performer natin.”
Armed with a friendly concern for Janno, “Sana, ibalik niya ‘yung dati niya ‘coz he’s no longer the Janno Gibbs that I knew,” panalangin ng kanyang kabaro.
EARLY NINETIES pa when colleague-friend Jo-bert Sucaldito began producing shows in and outside Metro Manila. Ang maganda sa estilo ni Jobert, he’s hands-on on both major production aspects: creative and marketing.
Last February 17, Jobert mounted a post-Valentine concert titled A WonderFour Affair at the Zirkoh Bar in Tomas Morato.
Special mention in our column is Michael na kapag titingnan mo from an angle ay nakakahawig ni Dennis Trillo (minus the height). A product of ABS-CBN’s X Factor, Michael’s peg is the now-defunct show judge Martin Nievera, no doubt, Martin’s Kahit Isang Saglit ay piece of cake lang for this good-looking guy.
Before joining Jobert’s stable of artists, unang hina-wakan ni Manny Valera si Michael. For some reason, slow-paced ang usad ng singing career ni Michael sa loob ng isang taon. It was Jobert and his managerial magic that fuelled Michael’s career engine.
Mula sa kanyang mga kinikita sa mga show ay nakapundar na si Michael ng sasakyan, a testimonial to his determination to make it big in live entertainment. Kabilang sa repertoire ni Michael ang Hanggang ni Wency Cornejo, upbeat as well as R&B songs.
Surely, Michael will give our male live entertainers a run for their money.
