KAMAKAILAN, DENNIS TRILLO — for all his display of ungentlemanliness — earned the flak from the press. Ang dapat sana’y pagpapakabait ng aktor — whether natural or put-on — for the sake of a movie that he’s promoting — ay nauwi sa maangas niyang paraan sa pagsagot ng mga tanong tungkol sa nakaraan nila ni Jennylyn Mercado.
Hindi ‘yon ang unang pagkaka-taong kinakitaan ng pagkapikon si Dennis before a startled media that was simply doing its job. Kainitan pa ‘yon ng plano sana ng kanyang naanakang si Carlene Aguilar na ipagamit sa kanilang anak na si Calix ang pangalan ng kanyang napangasawang si Yo Ocampo so as not to confuse the child.
When sighted in an event and asked for comment, pabalang na sumagot si Dennis. If there’s a milder term for “bastos,” that’s how Dennis answered the question. Pero likas na yata sa sistema ng aktor na ito ang pagi-ging pikon, this is the same attitude nang tanungin siya tungkol kay Jennylyn, who — hopefully — has found a real gentleman in Luis Manzano.
As much as possible, we do not play around assumptions. Nagka-taon kasi na iisa lang ang manager na humahawak kay Dennis at kay Marian Rivera who both get easily piqued at the slightest provocation. Minsan nang ikinumisyon noon ng GMA Artist Center si Lolit Solis to undo the damage caused by Marian — na hindi kayang gawin ni Popoy Caritativo who’s press-unfriendly himself! — dahil sa anti-media relations nito.
Again, though unofficial, it’s Lolit’s turn to instill the same values sa kukote ni Dennis na niyakap niya, sabay sabing, “Anak, huwag kang pikon. Sa sinabi mo kay Jennylyn, may mga reporter nga na gusto kang birahin nu’ng time n’yo ni Carlene (alaga ni Lolit), pero sabi ko, huwag na.”
Everything still redounds to one’s innate character. Kung likas nang ugali ‘yon ni Dennis, no amount of motherly advice would turn a stinking pile of garbage to a sweet-smelling garb.
WHETHER ON PURPOSE or otherwise, nagiging “running issue” na yata among GMA artists ang napapabalitang buntis.
Over the week, a parade of reportedly pregnant stars has cut across the showbiz street led by Princess Snell na natsitsismis na “napuruhan” ni Manny Pacquiao, followed by Iwa Moto na kaya raw dalawang buwan nang nasa Japan (yet her absence is hardly felt) ay dahil nagdadalan-tao rin ito courtesy of her ex-boyfriend Mickey Ablan, and the latest to have joined the bandwagon ay si Kris Bernal na obviously namang ang layunin ng yet another pregnant issue sa kanya ay paingayin ang kanyang danserye.
Kumpara sa mga “buntis” na taga-GMA, Andi’s case is no figment of ima-gination, nor is it a media hype.
For Iwa’s, Princess’s and Kris’s PR think tank, next publicity slant please.
SIMULA NGAYONG LINGGO, TV5’s audience will be treated to a different kind of viewing experience via Pinoy Explorer. Hosted by Aga Muhlach, inilunsad ang naturang pinakamalaking educational-entertainment program na ito — the first ever in the history of Philippine TV.
Sa kabuuang labing-isang araw na biyahe ni Aga at kanyang crew sa North America (particularly in Wyoming, Montana and Alaska, kung saan may nakabangko na silang walong episodes), halos naikot nila ang buong mundo, with a circumference of 40,075.16 kms.
Having crossed four time zones, kinailangan nilang sumakay sa labindalawang eroplano at magrenta ng walong sasakyan to get to such places where Aga himself did his spiels which he has proudly perfected kahit aminado siyang bulol.
