DEREK RAMSAY IS dubbed as “The Universal Leading Man”. Muli natin siyang mapapanood in ABS-CBN’s upcoming nurse-serye titled Habang May Buhay as Judy Ann Santos’ leading man.
Derek is a genuine sportsman-actor. Kahit abala sa kanyang showbiz career, he still finds time engaging in extreme sports. He plays rubgy and Frisbee. Last Holiday Season, he and girlfriend Angelica Panganiban enjoyed wild water rafting with his family in Cagayan de Oro. Derek is taking Angelica to the 2010 FIFA World Cup at Johannesburg, South Africa to watch the major international soccer matches. Naaalala ko na sinabi ni Derek noon sa The Buzz that he enjoys extreme sports because he wants to conquer his fears. He even said that if he were to ask for forgiveness from Angelica, it would be his being hard-headed when it comes to playing sports.
Derek is undaunted by the risks that come with extreme sports kaya naman hindi maiiwasan na mag-alala si Angelica because of his knee problem. Pero kung gaano man katapang si Derek pagdating sa extreme sports ay iyon naman ang takot niya na mag-undergo ng full reconstruction surgery sa kanyang right knee which was injured while playing Frisbee. Nahihirapan na raw siyang maglakad but he endures the excruciating pain.
According to ABS-CBN News, Derek said, “To tell you the truth, takot ako kaya hindi ko pa ginagawa. I’d rather go through the pain that I’m going through now, kahit ngayon hirap na hirap na akong maglakad. It’s going all the way to my back and everybody is saying magpa-opera ka na. Feeling ko naman in my head kaya ko namang ayusin in two months. But I’m just scared. If I can stay away from the hospital I’ll stay away from the hospital kasi ako ayaw ko talaga sa hospital.”
Marahil ay napag-isip-isip din ni Derek na kailangan nang maagapan ang kanyang nararamdamang sakit before it gets worse kaya he plans to have a surgery either on February or March. I hope everything turns out okay for Derek. I am sure makakahinga na nang maluwag si Angelica after Derek’s knee operation. Hindi kasi dapat pinatatagal ang sakit. Nakakatakot malaman ang medical diagnosis pero mas nakakatakot kung lumala ang isang sakit dahil pinabayaan ito.
Incidentally, Habang May Buhay is a medical drama series about a nurse named Jane Alcantara na gagampanan ni Juday. Ano kaya ang maipapayo ni Juday as Nurse Jane kay Derek if he were her patient?
