HINDI NA bago ang salitang “echosera” (from the root word echos) in showbiz jargon as a reference to a person who makes verbal lies. But Derrick Monasterio has given newness to this old gay term.
Kapag binibigkas niya kasi ang katagang ‘yon, may prolonged emphasis on the syllable “se,” thus, it sounds “echoSEEEEEra!” na kabog ang true-blue beki.
Not a bit, aniya.
Follow-up question: Sino sa mga nagbabakla-baklaang aktor ang kanyang peg if ever he tries portraying gay roles? “Si Paolo Ballesteros po!” mabilis na sagot ni Derrick.
Another follow-up question: Kung sakaling i-guest siya sa Eat Bulaga, bihisan ng pambabae at ilaban kay Paolo na kandidata ng Philippines (remember that one Saturday episode of EB that trivialized the Miss Universe beauty pageant last year?), anong bansa naman ang kanyang ikakatawan?
Walang kagatul-gatol na sagot ni Derrick: “Trinidad and Tobago!”
O, laban ka, Kuya Dan? Here’s one young, very promising actor who, despite mimicking the nuances of a stereotype gay, does not insult the bakla’s sensibilities.
LIKE A careful, law-abiding motorist on the road ay bubusina muna kami whoever gets in the way. Posible kasi naming ma-sideswipe, if not masagasaan ang katapat ng teleseryeng Walang Hanggan ng ABS-CBN that premiered last Monday. Well, unintentionally, that is.
No doubt, isang casting coup ang ipinagmamalaki ng naturang soap that makes for an ideal primetime dish on TV. Pangunahing putahe ay ang mga legendary icons tulad nina Ms. Susan Roces and Ms. Helen Gamboa, napagsama ng WH ang main course ng dating real-life sweethearts na sina Richard Gomez at Dawn Zulueta.
Meanwhile, the recipe that constitutes the younger breed is delectably led by no less than Coco Martin, na sinahugan pa ni Julia Montes seasoned by Melissa Ricks and Joem Bascon with a dash of Paulo Avelino. Kumbaga sa buffet, it’s an eat-all-you-can treat that promises fullness of stomach with loud burps to prove so.
Unang linggo pa lang ng Walang Hanggan, the scenes over the week were like a tip of the iceberg, if not a cherry atop a cone of a vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Hindi naman kasi mapasusubalian ang strength ng ABS-CBN when it comes to teleseryes which can pass for full-length movies in terms of delicious scope and mouth-watering magnitude. Again, and if we may say it in literal, loose English translation… stone-stone in heaven, whoever gets hit, don’t get mad!
BUKOD SA pagbabahagi ni Sharon Cuneta ng kanyang maternal insights in last Wednesday’s edition of TV5’s morning show Kumare Klub, and in yesterday’s Okay Ka Lang? on food and the guilt of indulgence ay nakatakda namang magsalita ang megastar sa segment na Kumare Chika ngayong araw, Biyernes.
Sharon bares all about her daughter KC Concepcion’s most trying times after her break-up with Piolo Pascual. Kasama rin dito ang bonding moments ng mag-ina sa US as their way to make up for whatever lost time.
Kumare Klub airs on TV5, 7-8 a.m. after Sapul Sa Singko simulcast over Aksyon TV Channel 41.
