Sa latest offering ng film arm ng ABS-CBN, ang She’s Dating The Gangster, Direk Cathy strikes as a “gangster” herself na kahit poised at articulate ay lumalabas ang pagka-jologs, so much like the movie’s lead stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
Pero correction please, the word “gangster” in the title should not be misconstrued as a violent, quarrelsome person.
Natanong kasi namin si Direk Cathy during the presscon what makes SDTG a must-see movie given the current news reports on teen violence involving fraternity members. There seems kasi to be a thin line sa pagitan ng isang frat member at isang gangster.
Sagot niya, not a single scene na may violence o karahasan ang mapanonood sa Kathniel movie (their fifth film together) considering na hindi lang teen ang target audience nito, kundi maging mga ina na tulad niya and even older than mommies out there.
In the best-selling book penned by Bianca Bernardino, “very teenybopper-ish” ang takbo ng kuwento. But in the film version, both the author and the creative team agreed to adopt necessary changes to further widen its captive market.
