TWENTY ONE YEARS na palang nagsasama sina Dolphy at Zsa Zsa Padilla, so why get married?
It does not mean though that Tito Dolphy does not believe in the sanctity of marriage – or church wedding, that is – dahil ang papel na ginagampanan niya in his latest movie is that of a priest, a modern-day, unorthodox one, in fact.
The King of Comedy plays the title role bilang si Father Jejemon, a role he has dreamt of portraying. Namayapa ang kanyang uncle, but Tito Dolphy’s desire to essay the role of priest did not die.
The movie, which is an entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival this year, is a comeback vehicle for Frank Gray Jr. who last directed the Comedy King in 1977 via Omeng Satanasia.
Its “many firsts” also include ang first time ni Tito Dolphy na makatrabaho sina Roy Alvarez, Prof. Tony Mabesa, EJ Falcon, Roadfill, Moymoy Palaboy, etc.
Tito Dolphy admits that his movie is competing against the heavies in this year’s festival, pero makapuwesto lang daw ang Father Jejemon at kumita nang konti ay masaya na siya. And so are we.
TANDANG-TANDA KO pa, first quarter of this year (March 2 to be exact) when TV5 donned a new look, so to speak, for the world to see during its relaunch at the World Trade Center. If the WTC in New York was reduced to rubble many years ago, the network that held its biggest event ever in March literally marched its way to the broadcasting road of continued progress.
The outgoing year has seen the birth of another mainstream channel na walang takot na bumangga sa GMA at ABS-CBN, although efforts in the past to outdo these two formidable stations had proven futile.Kung dati’y pinagtataasan lang ng kilay ang Singko in its bid to simply eat up a tiny chunck of the viewership pie, well, well, well, the weather vane seems to have turned to another direction.
Pruweba nga ng mas pinaigting na TV5 come 2011 is a lineup of pelikula noon-teleserye na ngayon treats for the viewers. Kabilang dito ang Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum topbilled by JC de Vera and Jasmine Curtis (kapatid ni Anne).
To the delight of the “now” generation, bubuhayin din ng TV5 ang kamalayan sa likod ng loveteam nina Gabby Concepcion at Sharon Cuneta via P.S. I Love You. Now, for a good laugh, ilalabas din ng Singko ang serye ng bersiyon nitong Iskul Bukol of TVJ fame.
Of these upcoming shows of TV5 to look forward to, Iskul Bukol is closest to my heart. Aired on IBC 13 during the 80’s, nag-PA (production assistant) po ang inyong lingkod bilang bahagi ng practicum for masscom students. Noon pa man, love ko na si Joey de Leon, only to keep my love for him 28 years later, imagine?!
COME 2011, ASAHANG mas tadtad ng billboards ang NLEX at SLEX dahil babalandra lang naman sa mga highway na ‘yon ang susunod na batch ng image models ng Page Jeans, that had GMA-7 artist Katarina Perez as its first celebrity endorser.
Network war is raging as ever, dahil nu’ng naganap ang unang nationwide search para magmodelo nito, isa roon ang Star Magic (ng ABS-CBN) talent na si Jubail Andres. On the second year, would you believe na kabilang sa mga hopefuls ay mula sa magkalabang channel -Ejay Falcon at Jackie Rice? But the adjudged top winner came from GMA, si Jana Dominguez.
Mas matindi na noong sumunod na taon dahil nagwagi si Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 Zara Aldana, produkto ng Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition; at si Bela Padilla who emerged as runner-up.
Currently, si Queenie Padilla ang Page Jeans endorser, na tiyak na masusundan pa ng ilang sikat na celebrities via screenings and auditions to be announced before the year ends. Kaya kung sa tingin n’yo, may “K” kayo, just visit any of the Page Jeans outlets or call (02)6870565. Hala, go o tawag na!
