LIKE THE Q & A portion in any beauty pageant, TV5 executive Mr. Perci Intalan scored the highest point nang ipasagot sa kanya ng entertainment press ang tanong kung bakit meron nang nagwagi among the 24 final auditionees sa kasisimula pa lang ng musical reality show na Kanta Pilipinas.
It was veteran showbiz columnist-film critic Mario Bautista who volunteered what was supposedly a well-kept secret na tapos na ang search, but event host Chuck Ali was apparently evasive, “Next question please.”
Towards the end of the event — kung saan 19 of the 24 finalists performed to the hilt — pinaakyat na si Mr. Perci sa stage para iklaro at bigyang-katwiran why the whole search had to be canned.
Kanta Pilipinas, to begin with, is a collaborative project. Entonces, may mga creative input ang mga tao sa likod nito tulad na lang ni Marvin Agustin who represents Futuretainment. Ani Mr. Perci, singing searches have become one and the same, and what they all wanted to achieve was a total departure from all this.
With an ear for music, given TV5’s think tank’s not-so-acceptable line of reasoning, bumawi naman ito sa salang-sala at patay-patayang pangangaliskis sa mga nakalusot na singing hopefuls—individual, duo as well as group—with their respective live performances.
To run for one season (13 weeks), gayong mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang leakage as to who among the 24 hopefuls made it to the grand finals ay meron na kaming earlier bets. Sa hanay ng mga babae, our vote goes out to Jennifer; among the guys, pinahanga naman kami ni Timothy.
Generally though, wala kaming itulak-kabigin sa kanilang lahat. All that is lacking ay ang mabigyan silang lahat ng recording contract ng TV5, although the question — it obviously seems — meron bang recording arm ang TV5?
FRESH FROM their highly successful first team-up in Walang Hanggan, ikinasa na agad ang mapapanood nang A Moment In Time that reunites Coco Martin and Julia Montes.
Unlike their tragic love story in the phenomenal WH, maluwag sa dibdib na lalabas from the movie house ang makakapanood ng AMIT, as their first ever wide screen partnership will surely cause goosebumps on their “cult following”.
Mas naging malapit pa raw sila sa isa’t isa making the filming of AMIT – partly shot in Paris ad Amsterdam — a lot easier.
Sana nga’y makabawi this time si Coco, after his com-rom (comedy-romance) movie with Angeline Quinto bombed at the tills last year.
A TESTIMONIAL na walang masamang tinapay kay Boy Abunda ay nang interbyuhin niya sa kanyang Ikaw Na segment sa Bandila ang kanyang dating “prodigal son” na si Erik Santos.
Nalamatan ang kanilang manager-artist relationship last year when Erik had already decided to leave Backroom, Inc. leaving Kuya Boy practically clueless. Ang nakakasama ng loob, Erik seemed to be biding his time for mustering the courage to inform his manager gayong alam na ng buong mundo ang desisyon ng singer.
But Kuya Boy’s willingness to interview his former ward (na nag-promote lang naman) is proof that in this volatile business, there’s still a room for opening one’s heart.
We are a big fan of Eric, malinis kasi ang kanyang boses. But he flunked the subject called CHARACTER. And by the way, aware kaya si Erik na ang kanyang mga nuances are telling signs that validate such talks about his sexuality?
