Hindi lang sa Cannes International Film Festival sa France dahil sa pagkapanalo kamakailan ni Jaclyn Jose bilang Best Actress sa pelikulang “Ma’Rosa” ni Brillante Mendoza, at kamakailan sa Venice International Film Festival sa Italy, kung saan ang pelikulang “Ang Babeng Humayo” nina Charo Santos at John Lloyd Cruz sa direksyon ni Lav Diaz ay hinirang as Best Film. Tila maganda na ang daan para mapansin ang Pilipinas sa international scene.
Last night, Thursday, October 6, ay opening ceremonies ng 21st Busan International Film Festival 2016 sa South Korea. Mainit ang pagtanggap sa delegates mula sa Pilipinas na dumalo sa pagtitipon sa isa sa mga prestigious film industry event sa Asya. Sa pangunguna ni Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman Liza Diño-Seguerra, mainit na tinanggap ang mga delegado mula sa Pilipinas na kinabibilangan nina Alvin Anson, Direk Ato Bautista of the film “Expressway”, Eduardo Rocha (film producer), Direk Chuck Gutierrez, at marami pa.
Ang “Sunday Beauty Queen”, isang documentary film in competition sa BIFF at “Expressway” ay dalawa sa mga pelikula na gawang Pinoy na mapanonood sa naturang festival.
Sa Facebook posting ni FDCP Chairman Liza today, aniya, “Sunday Beauty Queen, our documentary film in competition and Expressway, one of our local films in exhibition walked the very long red carpet to represent the Philippines in last night’s event. Fans cheered as they wave to a crowd of thousands and I just have to say the Koreans are such warm and gracious audience. They never stopped clapping and cheering during the entire two hour red carpet ceremonies.
Dagdag pa niya, “One of the highlights of the event was when Expressway team took a selfie or should I say groupie right before they took their red carpet moment. Everyone laughed and cheered at them as they walked. Classic Filipino da moves!”
Ang festival magaganap hanggang October 15.
