Ayon pa sa balitang ipinaabot through e-mail ni Direk Adolf sa amin last Sunday, October 21, ibinigay raw ng NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) Jury members Alberto Elena, a professor/critic from Spain, Jongsuk Thomas Nam, Artistic Director of the Puchon Fantastic Film Festival of Korea and Janusz Wróblewski, critic from Poland ang nasabing award sa ‘Kalayaan’ sa halos 250 pelikulang naglaban-laban.
Pinili raw ng jury ang kanyang pelikula dahil sa, “Director’s impressive vision of a dark journey into the bottom of human soul accompanied with outstanding cinematography along with brilliant depictive by its leading actor Ananda Everingham.”
Aniya, “I am very happy for this recognition for the film. When I decided to develop the film six years ago, I know it was a risk that will be worth taking. The soldiers’ lives on the island deserves to be shared on screen so people will understand their dilemma. So these rewards are like a pat on the back. It was also a good birthday present as I was in Poland during my birthday to present the film in a screening.”
Bida sa pelikula sina Thai superstar Ananda Everingham of “Shutter”, Zanjoe Marudo, Luis Alandy at Rocky Salumbides.
Nagpadala naman ng mensahe si Direk Brilliante Mendoza sa amin through text at aniya, “I’m happy that I finally made it at MMFF after several try.
“I’m glad I’m given a chance to share my film with the Filipino audience during the most celebrated time of the year, the Christmas season.
“It’s also very timely that our fellow Christian Pinoy can have a peek of Muslim culture especially now that the government is exerting all efforts to give peace a chance in Mindanao.”
