HAPPINESS IS SEEING a friend he had an umbrella when it rained or shone.
Benjie co-anchors with Laila Chikadora on Showbisto! at 12 noon, while Richard shares the airwaves with Cristy Fermin via Cristy Ferminute, 4-6 p.m.
Hindi na bago ang partnership nina Cristy at Richard, theirs began on ABS-CBN’s daily program Cristy Per Minute in mid-90s, kung saan may segment ang huli. How come their reunion came about 15 years later is a matter of destiny.
Hindi ko na pupupugin ng accolades si Cristy, my former boss in what was then a publication empire that she had built with Mr. Loren Banag many years ago, kundi sa kaibigang Richard na lang. In showbiz circles, Richard is famous for his extemporaneous punchlines funny enough kaya masarap siyang kasama.
A self-confessed alalay of Tina Paner, and treated like her own son (?) by Daisy Romualdez, sa pagsusulat din bumagsak si Richard. Although there had been reports about his waywardness, showbiz and its denizens are simply too forgiving and re-accepting of Richard’s pardonable kagagahan.
DISPLACED AND DISTRAUGHT (and disgus-ted?) naniniwala ako na ang isang mahusay na broadcast journalist tulad ni Karen Davila will – in her chosen career—spring back and forth like the Filipino invention, yoyo.
Despite the organizational unrest over at the News & Current Affairs of ABS-CBN (na tila ang pinag-uugatan ay ang pantatapat, threatening as it obviously seems, ng programa ni Willie Revillame), the likes of Karen—isama na si Julius Babao—should maintain their confident stance. Let their credibility speak for itself.
Must Karen and Julius be made as sacrificial lambs, gayong ang direkta naman nilang kakumpitensiya ay sina Mike Enriquez at Mel Tiangco ng 24 Oras?
Unknown to many, it has always been a “package deal” for Karen and her husband DJ Sta. Ana. Having established their names in GMA, nauna lang ang isa sa kanila sa paglipat sa ABS-CBN. With the crucial turn of events, nasa TV5 na si DJ, kaya following Karen’s displacement at ABS-CBN—after going full circle—sa Singko na rin ba siya mapapanood?
As we write this, okupado na raw ang mga slots sa TV5 kaya wala na raw malulugaran si Karen.
Karen Davila will always have a place under the sun, saan mang network siya magtrabaho. Her pleasant looks set aside, K is for Karen… K is for kredibilidad.
