Who wouldn’t love the stocky-framed Santa Claus who lives up North in a land of perpetual snow with his reindeers which pull his sleigh through the night sky? The Grinch who even makes himself a Santa suit and builds a rocket sled with his dog as a reindeer and flies to Whoville to steal everything that has to do with Christmas?
The holiday movies are made to be enjoyed during this season of good will and good cheer.
One of my all-time favorite Yuletide films ay ang musical movie na White Christmas na pinagbidahan nina Bing Crosby at Danny Kaye. It features the famous songs “White Christmas” by Irving Berlin and “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep”. Ito ay kuwento ng dalawang World War II US Army buddies – isang dating Broadway entertainer (Crosby) at isang promising entertainer (Kaye) na na-in-love sa magkapatid.
At sino ang hindi maaaliw sa pelikulang Home Alone which stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old clever kid na hindi inaasahang naiwan sa kanilang bahay when his family flies to Paris, France for a Christmas vacation?
han ni Kevin when he rigged the house with homemade booby traps. One of the most touching scenes in the film is when his mother desperately tries to get a return flight to the US after she realizes na hindi nila kasama sa biyahe si Kevin.
I asked some stars about their favorite Yuletide movie and why. Here are their answers:
Erik Santos – I like watching Home Alone. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been wanting to experience a white Christmas kasi walang snow rito sa Pilipinas.
Sitti – The Nativity Story. This movie beautifully depicts the story of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I’ve always enjoyed journeying to the Christmas past thru this film. Watching it always makes me grateful and filled with joyous anticipation for the coming of our Lord.
Amy Perez – Christmas with the Kranks. It’s a funny and heart-warming family movie.
Direk GB Sampedro – The Family Man starring Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni and directed by Brett Ratner. Life is about choices we made… and second chances…
Hermes Bautista – Home Alone is my all-time favorite Yuletide movie. It shows the true spirit of Christmas and the value of celebrating Christmas Eve with your family. This movie never fails to touch my heart.
Merry Christmas!
Kaibigan, usap tayo muli!
