IF THE TIME table is strictly observed, five out of 20 days na lang (unless extended, of course) ang nalalabi before Nora Aunor heads back to the US. At the last hour, it’s expected that she will have wrapped up shooting a historical film plus a mini-series for TV5.

Imagine, ang projected cost of production nu’n, eh, P100 million? One hundred million, babalik ba ang puhunan man lang ng producer kung hindi mo ‘yon isasali sa filmfest?” may pag-aalalang sabi ng TV host.
Kuya Germs raises a valid point. Sa tuwing sasapit lang naman ang taunang MMFF kung kailan sinumang producer —whether big or small, or in between — stands to gain box-office rewards dahil maraming pera ang tao sa ganu’ng panahon. Besides, given the nature and scope of Nora’s movie, it has the ma-kings of an ideal festival entry reminiscent of the 70s-80s when quality movies reigned supreme, and Nora herself would star in those.
Pero mukha namang hindi kita (profit) ang habol ng producer nito, kundi prestige. At kadalasan, kung ito ang principal concern ng producer, spending all his money on a worthwhile project without necessarily getting anything in return is a motto in itself.
