ENOUGH OF ISSUES, events and personalities behind us. Like unwanted scraps, there they go straight into the trash bin, hauled by your friendly dumptruck guy only to find their way in the stinking mountain of assorted garbage. Or worse, pakalat-kalat lang elsewhere only to resurface ‘pag rumaragasa na ang matinding baha!
Sa kolum na ito, nais kong ikunek ang nakalipas sa kasalukyan: Showbiz stories that broke out in the previous year or years, pero to this year being 2011 ay naghahanap ng closure. In this Year of the Rabbit, ihalintulad natin ang mga isyung ito sa mga kuneho running after the carrot-like resolutions to such cases.
Of the many conflicts or disagreements that swept the year that was, pinakamarami ang mga legal na kuwento worthy of public attention this 2011. Let me make a quick rundown:
1. ABS-CBN versus Willie Revillame. Ito na yata ang pinakamalaking demandahan last year, pero hindi natitinag ang Kapamilya network sa kabila ng ilang beses nang pagkasilat nito. Sa sobra ngang pagiging large-scale nito, maging ang TV5 ay damay na rin sa asunto ng Dos;
2. GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Wilma V. Galvante versus Annabelle Rama. Pareho silang mga haligi sa kani-kanilang mga larangan, both respected ladies in the industry;
3. Hayden Kho versus Katrina Halili. Hindi porke’t ibinasura ng korte ang demanda ng sexy actress, hindi ito dapat maging dahilan ng kanyang pagsuko. Women’s rights groups are behind her, even Senator Bong Revilla Jr. is behind Katrina’s quest for justice;
4. Yasmien Kurdi versus Baron Geisler. Hangga’t hindi humihingi ng public apology si Baron for the crime he had allegedly committed, tuloy ang kaso;
5. Cristy Fermin versus Chokoleit. Libel case ang inihain ng batikang TV host-columnist laban sa huli. Minsan na ring sinampahan si Cristy ng parehong kaso noon ng pamilya Gutierrez, it’s Cristy’s turn this time to get back at her detractor;
6. Jennylyn Mercado versus Mel Pulmano. Bagama’t nagdurusa na sa piitan ang dating P.A. cum confidante, nabuhay muli ang kaso laban kay Mel sa pagsulpot ng mga taong naonse rin umano nito;
7. Nora Aunor versus an aesthetic center. Due to an alleged botched medical procedure kung kaya’t nagbantang magdedemanda si Ate Guy laban sa isang Japan-based beauty clinic. Ayon sa huling ulat, at least two of Nora’s lawyers are Japanese who offered their legal services.
MAHIWAGA TALAGA ANG buhay, too good to be true as it can be cinematic.
Habang ikinakasa ng pamilya Webb at ng iba pang mga angkan ang pagha-hanap kay Jessica Alfaro upang papanagutin ito sa pagkakapiit nina Hubert et al tagged in the Vizconde massacre case, here’s the returning Alice Dixson who played the star witness.
