WARNING: THIS IS not a case of sourgraping.
As in the previous year, hiningan ng manager ni Marian Rivera (si Popoy Caritativo) si Lolit Solis ng listahan ng mga iimbitahang reporter para sa ‘di naman kalakihang press party for his wards including Dennis Trillo. Sa Anabel’s ginanap ‘yon, a year after Popoy desperately sought ‘Nay Lolit’s “damage control” expertise in the wake of Marian’s bad blood with the press.
Bago ‘yon, nagpatawag si ‘Nay Lolit ng series of intimate presscons hosted by Popoy to undo the damage spawned by his artist (Marian).To further rebuild Marian’s image, idinaos nga sa Anabel’s last year ang pa-Christmas treat ni Popoy for the press. I was among those invited as per ‘Nay Lolit’s list.
Muli, nag-submit si ‘Nay Lolit ng listahan this year, with my name still included sa pa-party na idinaos noong Miyerkules. “Oy, bakit hindi ka nagpunta?” paninita ni ‘Nay Lolit sa amin. Why would I show up at an event, in the first place, if I was not invited?
Nu’n ko lang natuklasan na “binaril” pala ni Popoy ang pangalan ko on the grounds na tinitira ko raw kasi si Marian. Prerogative naman ‘yon ni Popoy as to who he would wish to share his blessings with, or ipamukha na KAPLASTIKAN lang pala noon ang pakikipagmabutihan niya sa press!
Lilinawin ko lang that I am NOT taking my non-invitation against Marian nor any of Popoy’s artists, kahit ang mga ito pa ang gumastos sa mga pa-party ng mga alaga niya, with Popoy—I suppose—not even shelling out a cross-eyed five-centavo coin (singkong duling, iningles ko lang, he, he, he!).
Saan ka nakakita ng manager na pinanghihinayangan ang biyayang ibabahagi ng kanyang mga alaga, samantalang kaltas na du’n ang komis-yon niya? And it’s all up to Popoy’s alaga to spend it, not the way he would like their money is spent! Imposible namang ang “bumabaril” sa listahan ay mga mismong alaga ni Popoy who hardly know us, unless our name on ‘Nay Lolit’s list has our corresponding photo for Marian to act as his “co-triggerman”!
Kung ganito pala ang concept ni Popoy distinguishing friends from foes, and vice versa, in a season when love and peace should prevail, aba, he is doing more harm than good to his talents! Kung ang mga TV networks nga, walang sinisinong mga reporter—tabloid or broadsheet—ang isang Popoy lang who earns his keep from a single network?!
Like stars, managers come and go. But writers remain. No offense meant to a few manager-friends, but the Popoy Caritativo School of Press Relations simply sucks!
FUN, FUN, FUN… I could not think of any other monosyllable to describe kung gaano kasaya ang aming Tweetbiz party held last Thursday at Tim Yap’s co-owned Manor in Libis, Quezon City. Manor—FYI—is just one of those establishments that Tim co-owns with his business partners, kamakailan nga ay nagkaroon ng soft opening ang kanyang Robot resto-bar on Makati Ave.
And guess who is one of Tim’s chefs, ta-da… Luigi a.k.a. Iggy Boy, ang anak ni Janice! Aga Muhlach and Janice’s son went through the rigors of applying for the job, hindi niya dinrop ang pangalan ng kanyang mga magulang for a sure employment, na ikina-impress mismo ni Tim.
Going back to the Tweetbiz party, Tim was fashionably late having made the rounds of his other bars, perhaps. Making up for his (usual tardiness, he, he!), Tim made us all happy, you know what I mean. Take it from Tim Yap, Popoy Caritativo, that’s genuine generosity, hindi ang katulad mo with genuine hypocrisy!
IT HAD TO take five big film outfits to realize a bigger project, with two princes ruling separate kingdoms.
Needless to say, si Senator Bong Revilla Jr. ang Prince of Action, while Vic Sotto is hailed as Prince of Comedy, dalawang royal celebrities in a mixed genre of action, comedy, fantasy and adventure. Ilang taon na ring nagbabanggaan tuwing festival ang mga entries nina Bossing Vic at Bong, with their respective publicists issuing contradicting box office results as to which movie outgrossed the other.
And what better way to end this raging competition than putting one and one together, and you find a sum of surefire success at the tills in both actors. Swak ba ang “cinematic bromance” nina Bong at Vic, while separately ay makukulay rin ang kani-kanilang lovelife?
O, mas swak ang eksena sa nakaraang pa-Christmas party ng kanilang joint movie, kung saan “nagwala” si Lolit Solis over a box of wristwatches na dinambong ng ilang press? Oo nga naman, may tinatawag pa ring proper decorum na dapat pinaiiral ng mga kapatid natin sa media, ipapamahagi naman ang mga relong ‘yon in the spirit of Christmas, kaya bakit kailangang magmistulang gutom na asong nag-aagawan sa marami namang buto?
Naku, pasok ka pa rin dito, Popoy Caritativo, on another important lesson about sharing… na hindi CHARING!
