Ang buhay ay parang isang kanta. There are songs that tell a life story at may mga kantang nagiging parte ng buhay pag-ibig, tagumpay, pagkabigo, paghihiwalay at madalas na pangungulila ng isang tao. That’s why bawat isa sa atin ay may sariling scoring sa buhay.
Sometimes a singer’s life story can be described through his songs. Let’s take for example the songs of Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez whose love story is an open book to the public. From being in-love and parting ways to finding their way to being friends again ay may tugmang kanta sa kanila – “Be My Lady,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” “Pain,” “Don’t Say Goodbye,” “Kahit May Mahal Ka Nang Iba,” “Kahit Isang Saglit,” and “The Harder I Try.”
Pero kahit pa sabihing may sarili na silang buhay, nandoroon pa rin ang kilig sa kanilang dalawa. No doubt, Martin and Pops are still the singing tandem to beat. And who knows what will happen in the future?
Marami mang pinagdaanang pain sina Martin at Pops pero ang mahalaga ay okay na sila ngayon. Despite having found new lives, they have also found a way to be friends again. Afterall, they have their kids Robin and Ram who will always connect them together. Pops revealed that they communicate constantly. “Sometimes Martin would text from out of the blue. ‘How are you?’ and maybe it’s coincidence that when he does I am going through something and I need someone who knows me well to just be there for me and listen.”
I’m glad that they are back together again, although not romantically but as friends. Their “loveteam” will be singing their way into our hearts “One Amore Time” this Valentine’s Day at the SMX Convention Center inside the SM Mall of Asia.
Para bang hindi kumpleto ang Valentine kapag walang Martin and Pops concert. They have celebrated this day of love and romance together onstage since 1984 when they held a back-to-back concert at the Manila Pavilion.
“One Amore Time” was inspired by Latin/Mexican telenovelas. Ngayon pa lang ay excited na ako dahil talaga namang kakaiba ito from their previous concerts. It’s gonna be hotter, sexier, more daring and more passionate onstage according to concert producer Mae Vinluan-Dolonius. Makita kaya nating sumayaw ng sexy si Martin? Let’s find out.
