ISANG MALAKING HAMON kina Martin Nievera at Gary Valenciano ang mag-host ng kakaibang singing contest. Tibay at determinasyon ng Pinoy sa kantahan ang kailangang patunayan sa Twist and Shout this Saturday, 8:45 P.M. First time magkakaroon ng sariling programa ang “Concert King” at “Mr. Pure Energy.” May chemistry ang dalawa kaya perfect tandem, kaya naman excited na ang lahat sa magiging kulitan nila sa telebisyon.
“I’ve never been a game show host. This is my first time, but I have Martin. I know we’re both going to learn from each other, we’re ready for the challenges. Every episode, iba-iba ang contestants, so mag-iiba rin ang dating namin ni Martin sa camera,” pasimula ni Gary V.
“Maraming game shows na ang ginawa ng ABS-CBN, but the core element in this show is not to try to be a game show and us hosts not to be like Edu Manzano, Cesar Montano or Kris Aquino. We will be Martin and Gary. I was born on TV, I haven’t had a TV show for a long, long time. So, this is a big blessing, to get this for how many years? Hindi naman sa ayaw ko, it’s just not a show, talk show is not in anymore. It’s either game show or teleserye. They found the ‘As One’ tandem doing well and that’s a musical game show with a twist,” dugtong ni Martin.
Reaction nilang dalawa tungkol dito? “You would see the extention of Martin, a better Martin. The kids are always compared with Gary. Ang daming lumalapit sa akin, sinasabing mas magaling si Gab magsayaw kaysa sa ‘yo. I tell them, mas problema sa akin kung lalapit kayo sasabihin na hindi marunong sumayaw si Gabriel. sambit ni Gary V.
“For us, we want our kids to excel and do better. Robin is doing his best, he may not have the appeal, the sound or even sing like myself or his Mom. Like Paolo, nag-rock and roll sila, nagmahabang buhok ‘yung ganu’n. Funny faces… tsika pa ni Martin.
If ever Martin and Gary are just ordinary guys, are they willing to join the contest? “Yeah, why not? Especially if you’re gonna join with people that you know, if you go as a group it is more fun,” say ni Pure Enery.
“Here in this show, the singers, the contestant there are three teams. In each team they have their own audience. So, the audience is there to cheer only for its team. The end of the whole thing is, if the team wins, the audience gets to share the winnings of the team. We have this thing the jackpot round, where you can win up to P200,000. If the team wins two hundred pesos, sasali ako kahit audience lang,” walang prenong sabi ni Martin.
As a host in ASAP, kaya nina Luis Manzano at Billy Crawford pantayan o kaya lagpasan ang galing nila as TV host? “I don’t think so, they’re part of the “Kanto Boys,” magagaling sila. Actually, I’m very happy with Billy, they are great hosts, I’ve been telling Billy, he and Nikki Gil. They could be the next Pops (Fernandez) and Martin. I saw Luis in “Wowowee,” very smooth. He speaks Tagalog better than I do. He’s the best person to give advices to the broken hearted. I believe someone doing that should be credible, not us reading the script. That’s my prediction that I see in Wowowee, I don’t know why? They’re our two great host, Billy and Luis,” pagmamalaking turan ng Concert King.
While doing the show, may napansin bang kakaiba si Gary kay Martin? “I see the constancy who Martin is. Being thoughtful as he is, there are certainly things that Martin constantly shown through the years even before I got in to ASAP,” pahayag ni Gary V.
Ang Twist and Shout ay franchise mula sa Zodiak Entertainment, kilalang production and distribution which aired the format in countries such as France, India and Indonesia.
