WALANG PLANONG mag-lie low sa showbiz ang Concert King na si Martin Nievera.
“That’s the best part. I’m not worried about being number two, been there, done that. I’ve been number last and the best thing about being last and fall on your face is to get up,” say niya sa solo presscon for his Martin, Home at the Theater, Solaire, September 18, 8 p.m.
Since he’s been in showbiz for the last 32 years, maraming natutunan si Martin.
“I just has learned to just brush the dirt off my knee. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’ve made so many mistakes in my life, in my career. I’ve had hits, I’ve had misses, there’s so many singers that have come since my time but we don’t think that way anymore. We don’t think about being the next hitmaker. ‘Oh my god, we have to have a song better than so and so. Wala akong competition kundi ang sarili ko or time. Time is my competition. How much longer can I keep this up is what I ask. And the moment I ask that, there’s something else to do, corporate shows,” say ng singer.
Natutunan din ni Martin na “there is no such thing as a small gig”. “Whether I’m in the Theater, whether I’m in Eclipse, in Australia in front of 500 people with just Louie (Ocampo) and I, for me every gig is… my attack to it is like it’s my first and to consider it my last.”
