IN THE ENTERTAINMENT business, longevity is the name of the game. A star has to make the right moves and decisions because the road to the bigtime is filled with deadly landmines that can mercilessly kill dreams. Maaaring sikat ka ngayon, pero bukas, wala nang nakaaalam sa pangalan mo. Wala na ang mga nakabibinging palakpakan at hiyawan, wala nang nagpapa-autograph sa iyo, wala na ang mga nakasisilaw na kamera na dati ay laging nakatutok sa iyo at wala nang mga projects na ino-offer sa iyo.
Ano nga ba’ng sikreto nina Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, Concert King Martin Nievera and Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano at hanggang ngayon ay makikislap pa rin ang kanilang mga bituin at nasa kanila pa rin ang trono? Is it because of their immense charisma, pure talents, good looks, hundreds of thousands of devoted fans or an amalgamation of all?
Sa nakaaaliw pero nakababaliw, masaya pero maintrigang mundo ng showbiz, marami pa rin ang mga nangangarap na mapabilang sa mga nagkikislapang bituin ng pinilakang tabing. Today, the industry teems with young stars who have displayed their acting talents and have immense fan base. Pero sabi nga, sa showbiz, matira ang matibay. I asked some people kung sino sa mga young stars (male and female) ngayon ang sa palagay nila ay sisikat nang husto at magtatagal sa industriya. Here are their answers:

Sa mga young actors, si John Lloyd Cruz because he has depth as an actor. He has evolved as a serious actor from the first time I saw him as Rovic in Tabing-Ilog. Habang tumatagal ay lalo siyang gumagaling bilang artista. Sa mga female stars naman, I choose Toni Gonzaga because she is multi-talented. She is really versatile because she can sing, dance, act, and host. Natural siyang umarte mapa-drama o comedy. – Claire, writer, 25 years old, Quezon City

I believe Enchong Dee and Erich Gonzales will become more famous and will last longer in showbiz. Although they are a loveteam, they can stand alone in acting projects.
