IT LOOKS to me whenever I read and hear about showbiz couple Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo that it’s as though they’ve found The One in each other.
Hindi kasi makatkat sa isip ko ang isang eksena when I was writing the cover story on the occasion of the former Phyllbert Angeline Ranollo of Ususan Taguig’s 10th year anniversary in the ‘biz a few years back. Naipagtapat sa akin noon ng nanay ni Tisay (term of endearment ni Mommy Mary Ann sa kanyang darling daughter) na aware siya sa mga nasty rumor surrounding Zanjoe that time. Morsels of gossip which include ang usap-usapan na diumano ay minsang naging apple of the eye si Zanjoe ng isang aktor who has become the poster boy for gay rumors.
Ayon pa sa tsika ng mga piping saksi na obviously ay mga taga-ABS-CBN din sa reported dalliance ng dalawa, ipinagkatiwala diumano ng closeted male star ang kanyang VISA credit card sa morenong hunk who happens to be Bea’s inamorato now during a Kapamilya Caravan Tour sa Amerika.
Mommy Mary Ann was understandably concerned about Bea, pero iniintindi na lamang daw nito ang kanyang anak na from all indications ay in love kay Zanjoe.
Ako man has always been quite fond of Bea Alonzo whose rise to fame I sort of chronicled from when she was breaking free from the clutches of starlethood towards becoming a legitimate star. For that aforementioned cover story, Bea even requested for only me to write the cover story on her.
Kahit na nga nu’ng bagu-bago pa lamang ito and I was also asked to write the cover story on her upcoming debut then ay she so sweetly asked for my mobile number. Ang venue: Rajo Laurel’s atelier in Makati. Akmang tinype niya ito sa kanyang cellphone pero it did not escape my gaze that she did not really save it.
And it was just fine with me. She never ever heard anything about it from me. The first rule on journalism that I learned both in school, in practice, and by instinct is to observe detachment from your subject so that you can depict the story on him or her with objectivity.
Hardworking girls who diligently wait for the right time to fall in love always hold a soft spot in my heart, which explains why I’ve always liked Bea.
Na siya ring wish ng kanyang Mommy Mary Ann for her, na mukhang natagpuan na nga ni Bea, that is kung napatunayan na nga ni Zanjoe – who in my book belongs to that large contingent in showbiz na kahit ilang ulit mo nang makapanayam ay mistulang may self-inflicted amnesia – sa nanay ng kanyang girlfriend that all the malicious talk about him are bereft of truth.
Anak ng lady TV exec, may pinakatatagong lihim
BLIND ITEM: Natuklasan na kaya ng isang lady TV executive ang lihim ng kanyang anak na lalaki who, attest my sources, is not really a “he” pala kundi a “she” who in his, err, her heart pala lives a woman, trapped.
