KEVIN POBLACION, 20 years old, Fil-Canadian teener good looking guy raise in Vancouver Canada and live in Iloilo City for 2 years and came back to the Philippines to fullfil his dream to become an actor. “I learned basic Visayas and Tagalog, that was when I was in Grade VI and 1st year high school (2008 -2009). My parents are Ilonggo, they were in Iloilo and they moved to Canada 20 years ago. My mom is a nurse and also my dad. Married na sila nu’ng time na mag-move sila sa Canada,” he says.
Kevin took a tourism course and flight attendant course in Vancouver for six months. “I went to Canadian tour in college. I worked in NAW for 3 years as a cashier. I give my salary to my parents to pay for the rent. They’re always working… the management like me so much… got to be promoted sana but I have to go to the Philippines.”
Right now, nag-a-acting workshop si Kevin sa ABS-CBN, it’s a basic intro training for 19 session for 3 months, every Saturday for 18 weeks. “I’m learning a lot from the workshop. After the basic intro training, I’m going to enrol in advance class for 3 weeks. After that, the master class, it’s also a 3 weeks session.”
Aside sa acting worshop, twice a week nasa gym si Kevin for his physical fitness. “It’s feel good after the workout. It helps to make my body in good shape.”
What other preparation did you make to be a better actor? “Watch serious Tagalog and English films and also drama series on TV. Learned from each character portrayed by an actor in the film. I have to learn more acting technique in every role that I’m going to portray. You have to feel your character para ma-portray mo siya nang tama,” pahayag ni Kevin.
“As a person, I’m a bit shy but if you get to know me, I’m really loud,” Kevin said.
Malaki ang paghanga niya kay Piolo Pascual as an actor. “I watched Piolo teleserye, I like to become PJ, everyone loves him, and also Kim Chiu because she’s beautiful.”
Hindi pa nga natatapos mag-workshop si Kevin, may movie offers na ito kay Boy Palma. Gusto muna ng manager niyang matapos ang workshop nito sa ABS saka tumanggap ng pelikula at teleserye. Knowing Tito Boy, in good hands si Kevin Poblacion and he can make him to the top. “It’s been nice you know to become famous and act on film and TV shows. I grow-up watching “Marimar” nina Marian Rivera at Dingdong Dantes. I got excited when my mom told me I’m going to ABS -CBN for the acting workshop. My mom wants me to be an actor and it’s also my dream. I want her to be happy, same with my dad.”
Given a chance, what kind of role do you want to portray? “I love laughing, making jokes. Comedy is really nice but I like drama you know. I like the feeling when you’re watching… you see the actor is crying, ganu’n. Gusto ko heavy drama, ‘yung mai-explore ‘yung talent mo sa acting. Like Ms. Nora Aunor, she’s a great actress. Her eyes is so powerful. I wish we can make movie together in the near future. I know I can learn a lot with Ate Guy,” paliwanag ni Kevin.
Singing? “I like to sing you know, but I don’t know if I’m good enough. Sa Star Magic, there’s a voice lesson that I want to join to improve my voice,” simpleng sagot ni Kevin.
Is there any expectation now that you enter showbiz? “We finished shooting and this is my first time. It’s hard work, going everywhere, posing, standing in dirt, but you know, it’s worth it and it’s really fun, I love it,” kuwento pa ni Kevin Poblacion.
