KILALANG ACOUSTIC SINGER si Nyoy Volante, isang mang-aawit whose songs—my sincere apologies—I am not so familiar with. Just Once at Mahal Kita, Walang Iba do not make up his repertoire.
Kasama ang kaibigang Richard Pinlac, we hosted the joint birthday celebration of “soulmates” Eddie Littlefield and Fernan Sucalit (puwede ring “Sol-mates” dahil they’re most loved by Tita Cynthia Sol, ang tinaguriang The Dancing Diva of her generation) at the Music 21 Plaza sa kabila ng pananalasa ng bagyong Egay nitong Linggo.
I had seen in person and upclose for the first time. Sigaw ng audience, kantahin ni Nyoy ang isa sa kanyang mga signature song, but the charming singer settled for tunes na palasak nang kinakanta sa maraming videoke bars na sablay naman ang rendition, but NV (for purposes of brevity) gave even better interpretations than the original versions!
For an audience like me, admittedly unfamiliar with Nyoy’s brand of music… he was such a stunning revelation! Feeling ko, I had been in a time-warped, isolated capsule for ages that I never knew that a Nyoy Volante existed in the field of live entertainment!
No wonder, suki si Nyoy sa mga concert venues like the first venture of Eddie at a Quezon City bar. Armed with such vocal talent, sana’y mas marami pang break ang dumating kay Nyoy… calling concert producers out there, NV is the guy…
Of course, this is welcome news to the still-loyal fans ng tinaguriang “the one and only Superstar”, pero “old news” na ito, an item rehashed many times over like a viand at most carinderias na niluto, natira, ininit uli, ibinenta uli, pinagmukhang bagong luto pero wala namang nabago sa lasa!
Ate Guy’s return from the US (or from nowhere) has been reported for the umpteenth time, probably as many times as her controversial stories ranging from A to Z (addiction to gambling, allegedly, ha?… to her Zombie-like, aimless life, allegedly again, ha?).
Isang napakalaking “sugal” ang sabihing Ate Guy is here for good.
