Ogie-AlcasidPut VIVA TV and TV5 together, and the sum is a reality singing competition that will rewrite history!

Tulad ng alam na ngayon ng marami, Boss Vic del Rosario’s Viva has sowed its entertainment seed in Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan’s network soil. Kung ang tawag dito ng marami ay merger, Ogie Alcasid has a more apt term for it: synergy.

Still reeling from a holiday hangover, kinailangang simulan ni Ogie Alcasid ang kanyang 2016 sa pagsubsob sa trabaho, this time bilang isa sa tatlong host ng aabangang Born To Be a Star to pilot on February 6.

Joining him are Viva singer-actress Yassi Pressman and Pop Heartthrob Mark Bautista.

Now with the merger, mas dumami kami.”

The undefeated winner sa loob ng isang buwan will automatically advance to the monthly finals.

“Medyo mahirap lang ang audition process,” sey ng direktor nitong si Monti Parungao, “kasi, it’s not just the musicality that we’re looking for kundi ‘yung packaging as a whole.”

Nauunawaan namin why the selection process is rigid para maging weekly contestant pa lang. Consider these pegs: Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, Rachelle Ann Go, Mark Bautista, and Sarah Geronimo, almost all of them products of noteworthy singing competitions.

Hahaha!”

AND THE next best winner bilang top grosser sa nakaraang Metro Manila Film Festival is… sorry, hindi ang Vic Sotto-Ai Ai de las Alas-AlDub movie, kundi ang “Haunted Mansion”!

Minus the exact figures of its total gross receipts, ito ang usap-usapan sa isang mesa sa BTBAS presscon:  Regal Entertainment’s horror film (na nag-iisa among eight entries) ang maituturing na hands-down winner (kasunod ng “Beauty And The Bestie) considering na mababa lang ang production cost nito base sa mga tauhang bumubuo ng Jun Lana-helmed project na ito.

Of course, with Mother Lily’s astute business acumen, papayag ba siyang malugi? Never, dearie!

Now that the MMFF is over, with it should the issue kung alin nga ba sa walong kalahok made a killing at the box office die down. Tapos na ang karera.

At ang nagwagi ay ang “kabayo”!
