SI ANGELICA PANGANIBAN ngayon ang bidang-kontrabida na mamahalin at kaiinisan ng taumbayan sa kanyang bagong teleseryeng Rubi na mapapanood sa ABS-CBN Primetime Bida. The series is part of ABS-CBN’s celebration of 60 Years of Pinoy Soap Opera.
Rubi is the remake of the hit Mexican telenovela starring Bárbara Mori, Eduardo Santamarina, Jacqueline Bracamontes and Sebastián Rulli na ipinalabas noon sa Kapamilya Network.
Ngayon, ang maalindog na si Rubi ay nagbabalik sa telebisyon sa katauhan ni Angel. Who could resist Rubi’s irresistible charm as she seductively walks her way into men’s hearts with her silky smooth skin, wavy long hair, luscious pouty lips and wearing red stiletto shoes, flaming red dress and scarlet lipstick? Is she a vamp, a player, a sinner or a saint? Who knows that behind Rubi’s angelic face is a scheming woman who will do everything to pursue her hunger for power and wealth even at the expense of her loved ones?
Angel is the perfect choice to play the lead role Rubi because of her versatility as an actress. She can do drama, horror and comedy. Nahasa ng panahon ang kanyang husay sa pag-arte. We loved her as the young girl Becky in the movie Sarah, ang Munting Prinsesa. Kung pinapatawa man niya tayo ngayon bilang si Crissy with her hilarious impersonation of Kris (Aquino) in Banana Split ay ibang putahe naman ang inilalatag niya sa atin gabi-gabi bilang si Rubi.
It seems like Angel’s lucky color is red dahil hindi siya naka-kawala sa kulay na ito mapa-teleserye man o karakter na kanyang ginagampanan. Didn’t she play the socialite villain Scarlet dela Rhea in the drama series Iisa Pa Lamang?
Rubí sizzles in the small screen with a powerhouse cast that includes Diether Ocampo, Jake Cuenca and Shaina Magdayao. Diet plays Rubi’s love interest Hector; Jake is Alejandro, a poor man who dreams of becoming a doctor while Shaina plays Maribel, a rich but physically-challenged young woman who Rubi befriends because of her social status. Together with Angel, they play the exciting but dangerous game called love. Sino ang magwawagi at sino ang uuwing luhaan?
Like the gemstone ruby that is difficult to cut because of its hardness, Rubi is a strong-willed character. Rubi is the story of a woman full of secrets that can destroy the lives of people closest to her once the truth comes out.
