Palutang-lutang na ang career
Claudine Barretto, rumaraket sa TV5!

BLIND ITEM: By now, nataraugan na ang showbiz mom na ito na itatago na lang namin sa alias na “Ms. Pamplona” (who is neither from Las Piñas nor from Spain) if only for the fact na kailangan pang pahinugin sa kalburo o sa bigasan ang kanyang anak whose movie — when it opened alongside a youth-oriented film — literally ate dust!

Overall, isa na namang malaking sampal ito sa producer ng pelikula na makailang beses nang namumuhunan on projects which were not exactly money-making ventures. Heto’t nagsugal na naman sila sa isang proyekto thinking na isa nang established loveteam ang mga bida rito, or so Ms. Pamplona thought as well.

In one’s life, there’s such a thing as acceptance, a milder term for resignation. Sa aminin man o hindi ni Ms. Pamplona — connecting Las Piñas to Spain is a mile-long distance para masabing malayo pa ang dapat ibiyahe ng kanyang anak to attain bankability as an actor.

Or, it will probably take more than one “season” to see her son achieve his goal.

HINDI PA malinaw kung pormal nang pumirma ng kontrata si Claudine Barretto sa TV5, but she has already taped an episode of Untold Stories scheduled for airing tomorrow.

Tulad ng maraming artista, Claudine has gone full circle: nagsimula sa ABS-CBN, napunta sa GMA, at ngayon, may raket sa TV5. The fact that she said “yes” to a one-time project with the Kapatid Network would only mean na “floating” ang status ngayon ng aktres like a log na kung saan anurin ng alon ay doon siya mapapadpad.

It is but unfortunate na walang katiyakan sa direksiyong tinutumbok ng career ni Claudine, tulad din ng mga lumulutang na basura sa laot waiting to be dredged. With her one-shot deal guesting, walang inilayo ang aktres sa mga starlet who wait for call slips if there are only available roles.

Ayaw naming isipin that Claudine’s “demotion” in rank has a lot to do with her work attitude na inirereklamo sa kanya noong nasa GMA pa siya. Such story — unlike her guest appearance in Untold Stories — has been told many times over.

NO CHOICE ang limang mentors ng Protégé na sina Phillip Salvador, Gina Alajar, Jolina Magdangal, Ricky Davao at Roderick Paulate but to vote out two of their protégés this weekend. For now, nananatiling wala pa ring nalalagas sa Top 20, but the so-called Bottom 2 have to bid their early goodbyes.

Collectively, mabigat sa kalooban ng limang mentors ang magdesisyon kung sino sa apat ng kanilang mga minamanok respectively ang sasabihan nila ng, “Babu!” Each of the five has his/her own valid reason for mentoring their protégés all the way, but they have to stick to the rules of the game, ‘ika nga.

Higit pa raw kasi ang ginagawa nilang paggabay sa mga showbiz hopefuls na ito. Sa kabila ng maikling panahon, all five mentors have developed an attachment to these kids, a relationship that has gone beyond their mentoring business.

Pero sa bawat kumpetisyon, there will always be a winner and a loser. But if it’s any consolation, hindi lahat ng mga talunan in whatever race or game do not realize their dream come true one way or the other.
