OVER THE NON-WORKING holiday, ang daming showbiz events ang nangyari: from the traditional festival to an awards night to victory parties to post-Christmas treats.
Habang isinusulat namin ito, officially, GMA Films and Imus Productions’ Ang Panday has been pulling away in terms of box-office returns. Ito’y sa kabila ng pag-iingay ng kampo ni Vic Sotto that his entry is last year’s MMFF topgrosser.
Pagdating sa awards, I must say na dark horse sa acting department si Bong Revilla (Best Actor) at si Phillip Salvador (Best Supporting Actor) dahil ang early bets ay sina Gabby Concepcion at Dennis Trillo for their respective drama flicks. Wala namang kuwestiyon sa pagkakapanalo ni Sharon Cuneta as Best Actress, as if naman a Rufa Mae Quinto or a Cristine Reyes could beat her, ‘no!
OA naman ang pagbubunyi ng kampo ni Bong whose movie bagged seven awards: merong party after the awards night, sinundan pa ito ng selebrasyon on a separate day. Nagkaroon pa yata ng pagdiriwang in his native Imus on New Year’s Eve at kaliwa’t kanang live guesting nitong Bagong Taon with his generous hands extended to the longest and farthest.
Hindi naman nagpatalbog ang post-Christmas dinner thrown by Senator Jinggoy Estrada na, ayon nga sa press, was a lot more bonggang-bongga than Bong’s! Isama pa ang kanyang fadir, si dati at tumatakbong muli bilang president na si Erap Estrada at a party that would make history!
All in all, the string of past events meant one thing: showbiz had seen the face of money, lots of it, sa kabila ng sinasabing krisis sa ekonomiya.
AS 2010 IS pregnant with hopes, ang ngayo’y buntis na si Lian Paz by her boyfriend Paolo Contis ay walang balak kuning ninang ng kanilang magiging anak si Isabel Oli, the actor’s ex-dyowa.
Diretso rin kasing sinagot ni Paolo via phone patch interview sa Startalk kung kukunin nitong godmother si Isabel, and the answer was a flat “no.” When asked kung bakit hindi, Paolo’s answer was reduced to two words: “Wala lang.”
Nang muling ipapaliwanag kay Paolo kung bakit wala lang ang kanyang sagot, sey niya: “Choppy kayo… choppy kayo.” But of course, it was Paolo’s polite way of saying na hindi na kailangan pang i-elaborate kung bakit ayaw na niyang magkaroon pa ng konek sa dating nobya. Or is it Lian na ayaw maging kumare si Isabel?
Whatever, call naman ‘yon nina Paolo at Lian as to who they want their child’s godparents to be. Pero kung si Isabel marahil ang tatanungin, it’s no big deal. After all, Paolo is a thing of the past.
Eh, ano naman kung ayaw nina Paolo at Lian na maging kumare si Isabel? Tanungin muna nila kung willing maging ninang si Isabel sa magiging anak nila ‘no!
