SI RICA PARAS, ang tinaguriang Math Goddess of Bacolod, ang latest evictee sa Bahay ni Kuya. Marami ang nagulat sa resulta dahil isa siya noon sa mga itinuturing na mabigat na kalaban para sa Big Four. She garnered the lowest total save and evict votes (10.37%) while her fellow nominees Sam Pinto, Johan Santos and Paul Jake Castillo received 15.16%, 13.47% and 12.55%, respectively.
Gumawa ng ingay si Rica sa kanyang pagpasok sa Bahay ni Kuya. Siya ang kauna-unahang transgender housemate. Big Brother gave her and fellow housemate Rob Stumvoll the special task of pretending to be a real couple when they entered the house. Naging successful sila sa kanilang task dahil napaniwala nila ang mga housemates especially when Rob “proposed” to Rica. Hinarap din ni Rica ang iba’t ibang issues regarding her sexuality like when she was called a She-Man by some male housemates and her breakdown with Sam during their Christmas Ball because Rica thought she didn’t belong to such occasions.
I got the chance to interview Rica when she guested on The Buzz. Nakaaaliw siyang kausap. Wala siyang bitterness sa kanyang pagkaka-evict. “I feel very happy na nakakita na ako ng mga tao rito sa labas. Nandito ang totoong drama,” she said. As a former housemate, Rica experienced kung ano ang buhay sa loob. There are surveillance cameras positioned all over the house to watch their every movement at dito masusubukan ang abilidad ng mga housemates sa kanilang pakikisama. Mas kilala ng mga housemates ang ugali ng isa’t isa – alam nila kung sino ang totoong tao at kung sino ang nagpapakitang-tao lang. I asked Rica kung sino ang totoong tao at kung sino ang hindi. “Si Melai totoong tao siya. Hindi siya nahihiya na galing siya sa probinsiya. Si Cathy, I think, hindi siya totoo.”
Laging sinasabi ni Rica during the interview na ang totoong laban ay nasa labas ng Bahay ni Kuya. Kung may hirap ay may saya rin naman sa loob ng bahay. She recently reconciled with her father who already accepted her for who she is. Bagong taon na raw at ang pagkakaayos nilang mag-ama ay isang magandang simula. It was Big Brother who made way for their reunion in order to settle their differences. Sino ba naman ang ayaw tanggapin ng kanyang sariling pamilya? Rica’s gender has been her life-long struggle. Although shunned for her sexuality, hindi nagpatalo si Rica. She is a fighter who is undaunted to express her individuality and sexuality. She admitted that she has a boyfriend at five years na sila.
Ngayong nasa outside world na siya, sino ba sa palagay niya ang magiging big winner sa PBB Double Up? “Si Melissa. Hindi siya hate ng mga tao.” Totoo bang nagmamahalan sina Melai at Jason? “I think so. They are a match made in heaven. Tamang-tama ang chemistry nila.” Tingnan nga natin kung magkatotoo ang mga hula ni Rica.
