ANG Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) ay magdadala ng dalawang restored classics: Ang “Himala” ni Ishmael Bernal at “Moral” ni Marilou Diaz Abaya upang maipakita sa special restored classics feature na tampok sa Far East Film Festival sa Udine, Italy simula ngayong araw, April 26 at 27, 2018.
Ang dalawang pelikula ay bahagi sa celebration of 100 Years of Philippine Cinema.
Ang FDCP ang mangunguna ngayon sa Philippine delegation na magtatampok din ng “Si Chedeng at Si Apple,” “Smaller and Smaller Circles” at “Ang Larawan” na in competition kung saan ang mga filmmakers nito ay suportado sa ilalim ng International Film Festival Assistance Program (IFFAP).
Bukod pa sa mga nabanggit na mga pelikula na ilalahok sa naturang filmfest, magkakaroon din ng Sandaan: Philippine Cinema Centennial Talks. Kabilang sa mga speakers ay sina Mr. Ed Lejano, Festival Director ng QCinema, Bianca Balbuena, CEO ng EpicMedia, renowned actress na si Elizabeth Oropesa para sa Filipino Popular Cinema na pangangasiwaan ni Mr. Max Tessier.
Ang Film Historian at Documentarist na si Nick Deocampo ay magho-host din ng isang panel discussion na pinamagatang Discovering the Past: Asian Film History – Filipino Cinema during WWII, na ipapakilala ni Mr. Roger Garcia, Festival Director ng Hong Kong International Film Festival sa Abril 27.
“I am pleased to say that the Sandaan: Philippine Centennial Talks is our way of sharing our history and our way of filmmaking to the world as we celebrate this important milestone,”
“Natutuwa akong sabihin na Ang Sandaan: Philippine Centennial Talks ang aming paraan ng pagbabahagi ng aming kasaysayan at paggawa ng pelikula sa mundo bilang parte ng makasaysayang pagdiriwang na ito,” pahayag ni Chairperson at CEO na si Liza Diño.
Dagdag pa niya: “Through FDCP’s IFFAP, we were able to bridge Filipino filmmakers in International Film Festivals. These are a few of the opportunities that we are proud that we were able to provide to level the playing field when it comes to the Global Arena, because these films can actually deliver and can compete head on given the proper support from the government.”
Ang Far East Film Festival sa Udine ay magsisimula bukas, Friday April 20 at magtatapos sa April 29.
