KILALA ANG ATLANTIS Productions sa mge de-kalibreng stage productions tulad ng Next to Normal, Xanadu, Legally Blonde, A Little Night of Music, Avenue Q, Spelling Bee, at Spring Awakening. Ngayon ay isa na namang bigating musical ang handog ng Atlantis in cooperation with Delta Airlines sa pamamagitan ng Tony Award winning Broadway musical na IN THE HEIGHTS. Ang musical ay mapapanood simula September 2 hanggang 18 sa Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.
Ang In the Heights ay tungkol sa isang community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood that is on the brink of change; where there is full of hopes, dreams and pressures, and where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. Nanalo ito ng tatlong Tony Awards including Best Musical.
Itinatampok sa musical sina Nyoy Volante, Jackie Lou Blanco, at K-La Rivera. Nyoy has always been vocal about his love for musical theatre. “I’ve always been in love with musical theatre! Whether performing in them or merely watching them, I find the degree of technique and expertise outstan-ding. Also, it never fails to produce a certain kind of bond and fellowship between cast members so, more often than not, you’re bound to end up having lot’s of newly found friends!”
Suki na si Nyoy ng Atlantis dahil nakasama na siya sa ilang productions nito gaya ng The Rocky Horror Show, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, at Legally Blonde. Gaganap si Nyoy bilang Usnavi, the Washington Heights bodega owner na na-ngangarap bumalik sa Dominican Republic, his parents’ homeland.
Excited naman si Jackie Lou sa In the Heights. “This is a show of firsts for me! It is my first musical. My first English language production. And my first show with Atlantis.” Siya si Camila, ang ina ni Nina (ang role ni K-La). Paglalarawan niya sa kanyang karakter, “Camila is a woman of strong character trying to handle difficulties the family faces but always trying to keep her family together.”
Unti-unti nang nakikilala sa showbiz si K-La. She is Star Power’s 3rd Runner-Up and the newest MYX VJ. In The Heights is her theater debut where she plays Nina Rosario, the 19-year old Stanford student who returns to her old neighborhood with some surprising news. “I really wanted the chance to experience the life and disciplined training it takes to be a musical theatre performer. I’m excited because this is the first time this Tony Award winning musical will be performed outside of the United States. It’s a huge honor for me to be a part of this musical alongside some of the best national and even international perfor-mers here in the Philippines. With rehearsals already undergoing, this will be a big stepping stone for me with not only singing, but performing in all aspects whether singing, acting and dancing.”
