HOPES ARE high as Piolo Pascual is back on the big screen! After all, kelan pa ba huling napanood ang aktor sa higanteng telon? Oh, no one even remembers.
Ang alam ng kanyang mga tagasubaybay, Piolo just wrapped up work in the closely followed Apoy Sa Dagat. At ngayon, he stars in On The Job along with fellow thespic stalwarts Joel Torre, Joey Marquez, Gerald Anderson and Angel Aquino mula sa direksiyon ng isa sa mga hinahangaan naming direktor, si Erik Matti.
May apprehension lang kami—worried even—for Piolo against just his few bashers who choose to see the bad aspect of him rather than his inherently good side. For sure, paglalaruan ang pamagat ng kanyang pelikula, rewording it to satisfy their (bashers’) predilection for thriving in the negatives.
We hope we stand corrected, pero sinadya noon ng ABS-CBN na palitan ang pamagat ng teleserye ni Piolo which later became Dahil Sa Pag-ibig. Reportedly, had the network opted to use the original title na Padre de Familia (Piolo played as a priest, remember?), it would only have resulted in his bashers’ altering the title to make it sound negative for Piolo.
With his new movie On The Job, enough of “pun for the sake of fun”. It would be a great disservice to the art of cinema na paglaruan pa ang isang inaasahang obra based on its cast and its director, notwithstanding.
By the way, On The Job used to be a weekly program on QTV 11 (now GMA News TV), hindi ba nagkaroon ng problema as to the use of the title?
Regine, may pahiwatig na susundan si Ogie sa Singko
HIS FANS could only pin their hopes that their idol Ogie Alcasid just did what he thought was best for his career. Ang tinutukoy namin ay ang paglipat ng songwriter-singer sa TV5, thus cutting his ties with GMA-7 na pinaglingkuran niya for almost two decades.
Halos kasi kasabay ng pagtawid ni Ogie sa kabilang istasyon, siya namang pag-alis ni JC de Vera sa TV5 to transfer to ABS-CBN.
But Ogie’s transfer should not come as a surprise. Para sa amin, prophetic ang pagho-host noon ni Ogie ng kauna-unahang songwriters’ contest sa TV5. Little did everyone know that it was a clear sign of things to come, and his transfer came.
Balitang maraming proyektong nakaabang kay Ogie sa kumpanya ni Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan, a package of career opportunities tempting enough to resist. After all, isa si MVP sa mga ninong nila ni Regine Velasquez sa kasal.
This affinity poses another possibility, na minsan na ring ipinahiwatig mismo ni Regine. In a TV interview, hindi nga ba’t sinabi ng Asia’s Songbird that, “where my husband goes” ay susunod siya?
Is it too early to say na susundan nga ni Regine ang kanyang asawa?
AS USUAL, isang moral lesson-filled episode ang matutunghayan bukas sa One Day Isang Araw na pinamagatang Ang Alaga Kong Kapre.
Kuwento ito ng bratty na si Daisy who resents her new piano teacher if only for the latter’s mataray looks, but she is advised by Sunny and Isang not to prejudge a person based on his/her outward personality.
Para lalong makumbinsi si Daisy, nagkuwento si Uno tungkol sa isang kapre, na sa hitsura ay mukhang kasumpa-sumpa pero busilak pala ang puso. Uno’s story revolves around Julio, the youngest in the family na laging pinagkakaisahan ng kanyang mga kuya.
Feeling unloved, Julio finds a young kapre seemingly lost in the woods. At first, natakot si Julio but he overcomes his fright when he discovers that his supernatural find is a sucker for chocolates. Ang pagbibigay rito ng mga tsokolate ang ginamit na paraan ni Julio para mapalapit sa batang kapre.
Eventually, the two become friends but Julio has to keep the young kapre out of his family’s sight. Hindi nagtagal, his family learns about the kapre’s presence in the house. Scared, the family drives him away.
Nagkaroon ng twist sa kuwento nang iligtas ng kapre ang mga kuya ni Julio mula sa isang life-threatening accident, thus making Daisy taking a cue from Uno’s story: that one should not judge a book by its cover.
