ISA NA namang bigating musical ang handog ng Viva Atlantis Theatricals with their production of Disney’s TARZAN. Kung tayo ay naaaliw sa kakaibang kuwento ng isang sanggol who was taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas in West Africa ay tiyak na muli tayong mag-e-enjoy kapag pinanood at narinig natin nang live ang sikat na sigaw ni Tarzan habang siya ay nagbabaging sa mga puno.
Naalala ko tuloy when Olympic swimmer Johnny Weissmuller portrayed Tarzan. Kahit black and white pa noon ang mga pelikula ay marami ang nahumaling sa kanya. Nabasa ko online that he was the first actor to be associated with the famous yell and while he was being buried, a recording of the Tarzan yell was played three times to fulfill his last request (wikipedia). At hanggang ngayon ay napapanood pa rin ang kanyang mga Tarzan videos sa YouTube.
Based on the smash hit animated film and Edgar Rice Burrough’s classic novel, lumaki si Tarzan sa pagmamahal at pangangalaga ng kanyang adoptive mother na si Kala while he wants to be accepted by his father, Kerchak. Then he meets and falls in love with Jane. Tarzan must decide to accept his identity and choose who his family is.
Playing the role of Tarzan in the musical is Dan Domenech who was last seen on Broadway as Drew in Rock of Ages. He appeared on the hit musical TV series GLEE at gumanap din siya bilang Aladdin in Disney’s ALADDIN. Kuwento niya, “I am so psyched to be doing this show. I’ve just started rehearsing and already I know we have something really special. The cast is amazing. Everyone is so open and welcoming and just so wonderfully talented. Rachelle Ann Go as Jane is lovely. And what a voice she has!”
Si Rachelle Ann Go ang gaganap bilang Jane sa musical. She was seen onstage two years ago as Ariel in Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID. “I have fallen in love with Jane and how brave and adventurous she is. I am also so honored to be a part of this cast. I learn so much just from watching them work and being with them. I am also thrilled to be working with Dan. I was so intimidated when they told me at first that our Tarzan will be a Broadway actor, coming from New York. But it was so nice to finally meet him, sing with him and realize he is so down to earth and humble. He makes everyone around him feel comfortable.”
Mapapanood ang TARZAN sa Meralco Theater simula June 14 hanggang July 7, 2013. Tickets are now on sale. For more details, maaaring tumawag sa Viva Atlantis Theatricals 687-7163 at sa Ticketworld 891-9999.
