SERYOSO NA NGA si Rafael Rossell sa kanyang career as an actor. Makatotohanan ang pagganap niya as Japo sa indie film na Fling (story and screenplay ni Charlotte Dianco) with Lara Morena. He gave justice to the role, nasa puso na niya ngayon ang pag-aartista kaya sunod-sunod ang kanyang movie projects.
“I fell in love with the story. It’s not the typical love story where the guy make habol. Hindi ‘yung guy ang humahabol kundi ‘yung babae, reverse! ‘Yung babae ang nanliligaw, may kaunting similarity sa buhay ko noong 2009, dahil iniwanan din ako,” say ng aktor.
Sa mga pagsubok na dumaan sa buhay ni Rafael, marami rin siyang natutuhan lalo na sa last relationship niya. Hindi ganoon kadali para kalimutan ang lahat.
“Bunch of hours of soul searching, spending time with mother nature. Marami ring namatay sa buhay ko last year, physically and mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Mga moments of tragedy, nakatutulong talaga, moment of problems, ‘yung emotional height mo. I think as an actor, whether it’s so tragic for you, you can still embrace it dahil you can use it later on. Kahit ano ang mangyari sa buhay mo… ang outlook ko ngayon parang, I’ll still embrace it whether it’s good or bad. Dahil kahit papaano, makatutulong ‘yun sa career ko. It just help me to convert negativity to something positive. ‘Yung last relationship ko ang pinakamabigat at pinaka-publicized. Hindi dapat ganoon ka-publicized ‘yun. Sino ba naman ang hindi maaapektuhan pagdating sa pagmamahal?” Pahayag niya.
Nakailang serious relationship na nga ba si Rafael? “Pangatlo, puro serious. ‘Yung first relationship ko (2 ½ years) was a mixture of long distance relationship and immaturity, 18 years old lang ako nu’n. Second (3 years) relationship naman, the girl was more matured than me. I asked what she thought? Kaya lang later on, I am more mature back then, nagmamadali lang siya sa next level. ‘Yung third naman (3 years and a few days), I thought we were getting there pero nag-side wind siya into something else and we broke it there.
“That’s life, nangyayari talaga ‘yun. That time, hindi pa ako ready unless I think, she’s the one talaga. If you jump to the relationship thinking na hindi ito ‘yung papakasalan ko. Why are you there in a relationship in the first place? Bakit ka pa maghihirap sa mga emotions na ups and down sa mga relationship kung hindi mo naman seseryosohin, ‘di ba? Lahat ng relationships, I believe na it will be a long term one, that we’ll share good and bad experiences na ma-workout namin. Pero in the last one, we didn’t work it out. ‘Yun talaga ang nangyari! This time around, I’ll be more careful. “
Daring na nga raw si Rafael sa mga project na tinatanggap niya ngayon. Keber kahit may sexy scene siya sa kapwa niya lalaki. “Para magawa ang love scene, kailangang maganda ang story that involves a love scene. ‘Yung story na maganda, may love scene na may meaning talaga, ‘yun ang papatulan ko. Pero ‘yung love scene na ginawan lang ng story para magawa lang ‘yung love scene, ‘yun ang hindi ko papatulan. Dahil in the end walang meaning ‘yun, para lang ma-exploit ‘yung both guys.
“There are story na magaganda naman na may love scenes between two men and two women, same gender. Like Brokeback Mountain, that’s a good film and a good storyline, factor lang ‘yun to enhance the story. Pero ‘yung gagawa ka ng story just to enhance the love scene, hindi ko papatulan ‘yun. Para sa akin, that’s exploitation, you just make a porno movie and build a story around that, it’s the same thing. Sa mga porno, hindi naman ganu’n kaganda ang story, ang target nila’y porno. Brokeback was successful dahil maganda ‘yung story, it just happened to have a love scene,” paliwanag ng guwapong actor.
Given a chance to choose, sino kaya sa mga artista nating babae ang gustong maka-love scene ni Rafael? “Cristine Reyes, maganda and she’s hot! She seems to have so much passion parang magaan siyang kasama. Nakasama ko na siya pero pagdating sa love scene, todo-todo na ganu’n? Hindi ko pa siya nakakasama. Pero feeling ko, magaan siyang katrabaho. Take one lang dahil naibibigay agad niya sa unang take, so magaan. At the sametime, she’s a very nice person, bonus na ‘yun.
“Second, Ms. Cherie Gil and Ms. Agot Isidro, actually sila ‘yung ano ko dati. Nu’ng lumabas ‘yung billboard na pareho silang magkasama, sabi ko, Wow! Dream billboard ko ‘yan, since Marina days, pareho silang crush ko. Si Ms. Cherie Gil, may attitude siya as a person, ang lakas ng dating. Si Ms. Agot naman, she’s just so angelic para sa akin, and at the same time they are my friends. I think it’s would really easy to work with them talaga! Ang pinili ko mga Dyosa sa paningin ko,” pahayag ni Rafael Rossell na aktor na ngang maituturing.
