NAIINTINDIHAN NI Dingdong Dantes ang desisyon ng mother studio niyang GMA 7 na i-shelve na lang ang next teleserye sana niya, ang Haram, with Kylie Padilla, kahit nakapag-taping na ang produksiyon dito, headed by Direk Maryo J. Delos Reyes.
“Para na rin sa ikakabuti ng lahat,” maiksing sabi ni Dingdong nang kunin ang reaksiyon.
May chika kasing may nakakarating na sa production na mga protesta o pananakot tungkol sa matapang at kontrobersyal na tema ng Haram – ang “bawal” na pag-ibig nga sa pagitan ng isang Kristiyanong sundalo (Dingdong) at isang babaeng Muslim (Kylie).
Ayon sa GMA Network, shelved muna ang proyekto dahil sa “current tense atmosphere all over the world and in solidarity” at bilang pagrespeto na rin sa Muslim community.
Wala pang kumpirmasyon, pero ang sabi’y sa ipapalit sa Haram ay magkakasama pa rin sina Dingdong, Kylie, at Lorna Tolentino, totally new story na kasalukuyang nang pinaplano.
Narito ang official statement ng GMA:
“HARAM is a story about the love of Luis (Dingdong Dantes) a soldier who is of Christian faith for a Muslim girl, Nadi (Kylie Padilla).
“Eventually, the soldier will find out that this love is “haram” (forbidden); this is the reason why Nadi’s family is strictly against their friendship — much more their union.
“But because Luis’s love is true, he wants to prove that he only has good intentions for Nadi. This pushes him to convert to Islam, so that his love for Nadi would no longer be forbidden.
“The story of Haram is not just a unique kind of love story, but also about a Muslim family (Nadi’s) and how they endeavor and strive to raise their children to be fitting and acceptable for Allah.
“It is the show’s intention to make the viewers understand why a relationship between a Muslim girl and a man from outside Islam is forbidden, a doctrine which is also present in other religious beliefs.
“At the same time, the show aims to present the beautiful side and the dynamics of the Muslim family life in our contemporary times, and the dynamics of religious and cultural pluralism, with the desire to promote better understanding and mutual respect among people of various faith traditions.
“But because of the current tense atmosphere all over the world and in solidarity and with due respect to the entire Muslim Community, GMA 7 has decided it is best to shelve Haram for now.
“We hope for everyone’s understanding.”
STILL ON Dingdong Dantes, excited na ito sa kanyang second venture sa pagiging film producer ng sarili niyang pelikula – ang Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles, na showing na sa October 17 in cinemas nationwide.
Akala namin ay magiging “PG-13” ang MTRCB rating nito, pero ayon sa aming source from the production ay magiging “PG” na lang, wala nang “13”, so meaning, basta may parent o guardian ay puwede na itong pasukin ng mga bata sa sinehan.
Noong una’y inakala nga ng lahat na “PG-13” ang ibibigay ng MTRCB dahil nga sa violent scenes ng mga aswang, pero malamang, inayos ang final cut na pina-approve sa Board of Censors.
Chika ni Dingdong, ang software na ginamit nila para sa special effects ng Tiktik: The Awang Chronicles ay kapareho ng ginamit sa blockbuster Hollywood films na Avatar at Lord of the Rings.
Aniya, “kinarir” ng production ang pagbuo sa images ng mga aswang, ang atmosphere ng pelikula gamit ang green screen o chroma wall.
“Honestly, it’s a painstaking project because it took us like 18 months para mabuo namin ang kuwento ng Tiktik. Kasi, hindi lang naman dahil sa pag-shoot at paggawa ng CGI… mahabang proseso ang kailangan,” say ni Dingdong.
