SANDARA PARK IS now making waves in South Korea. Kilala na siya ngayon bilang si Dara, one of the members of the new girl group 2NE1 under YG Entertainment. Kasama niya sa grupo sina CL, Bom at Minzy. The members trained under YG for several years before their debut in the K-pop music scene. Their single “Fire” was recently released with two versions of the music video – a “space” and a “street” version.
I know Sandara from her Star Circle Teen Quest days where she emerged runner-up to Hero Angeles. Isa ako sa mga naging jurors sa reality talent show kasama sina Ms. Gloria Diaz at Direk Lauren Dyogi. Although Sandy is Korean, she charmed her way into the hearts of the Filipinos with her fascinating personality. She rose to stardom and appeared on ABS-CBN shows like SCQ Reload: OK Ako, Sandara’s Romance, ASAP Fanatic and Krystala. Nakagawa rin siya ng mga pelikula gaya ng Bcuz of U, Can This Be Love, D’Lucky Ones at Super Noypi. She also has a self-titled album which contains her hit songs In or Out and Walang Sabit.
Sandy left the country with her mother and siblings in 2007 to begin a new life in her homeland. Muli siyang nakipagsapalaran sa kanyang bansa. Her efforts paid off because good projects started pouring in. She appeared on the I’m Sorry music video of Gummy, a Korean singer, opposite T.O.P. from the popular boy group Big Bang. Nagkaroon din siya ng cameo role sa MBC drama series na The Return of Iljimae starring Jung Il Woo. 2NE1 and labelmate Big Bang’s song titled Lollipop was digitally released last March 27. Ang kanta ay ginawa para sa LG to promote their Cyon phone. The song was not a promoted single but Lollipop became number one on various online charts and topped music television network M.Net’s online chart for several weeks.
Here’s wishing all the best for Dara.
Kaibigan, usap tayo muli!
