BLIND ITEM: At a recent night-out, nasorpresa na lang ang isang celebrity-owner ng isang bar sa pagdatingng isang sikat na female celebrity with a popular comedienne in tow. Surprised dahil kilala namang hindi pala labas ang tanyag na personalidad at socials in late evening at that!
But at this point sa buhay ng celebrity na ‘yon, she can do whatever she wishes. After all, she’s back to being single, well, not necessarily in search of a new partner after her failed marriage. In a sense, hindi na rin nakakagulat ang kanyang biglang pag-pop out – from nowhere – sa bar na ‘yon.
Joining her table, however, was a staff from a law firm na may hawak ng kanyang kaso invol-
ving her estranged sportsman-husband. As host and as courtesy protocol, ipinakilala naman ng celebrity bar owner ang hitad sa kateybol nito.
“Oh, by the way, (pangalan ng sikat na personalidad), this is (pangalan ng taga-law office whose services were engaged by her former partner) from the office of (pangalan ng abogado ng kanyang dating dyowa),” sey ng celebrity bar owner, not realizing right then and there na oo nga pala, there exists a “legal tension” between the two parties.
Kilala namanng showbiz kung gaano lang nagpapakatotoo ang sikat na personality even under casual circumstances. As expected, umismid ito upon the bar owner’s introduction, not even Leonardo da Vinci could capture her “crumpled face” on canvass.
A QUICK BROWSE sa cast ng Babaeng Hampaslupa ng TV5 is like a garbage bin from which a lot of “recyclable materials”— tulad ng hinahakot ng bida rito—are revealed.
Its cast members are no different from “near-trash” in the field (figure of speech lang po ito, ha?), pero muling ginawang kapaki-pakinabang only to compose a primetime teleserye worth our keep rather than disposal.
‘Ika nga, the displaced yet worth-keeping and precious actors have assembled in a teledrama para maisip ng mga manonood that once an artist—given whatever circumstances—is always an artist. The “never-heards these days” include Jay Manalo, pero mahusay na aktor; Susan Africa, Julio Diaz, Freddie Webb, pati na si Anne Villegas and more!
May nagtatanong din kung extension ba ng RVQ Productions ang teleseryeng ito with the “package deal” inclusion of real-life spouses Vandolph and Jenny, isama pa ang anak ni Tito Dolphy na si Dolphy Jr., huwag mo na ring dedmahin ang isa sa dalawang director nitong si Eric Quizon!
Teka, what does it make Alice Dixson na matagal nang naninirahan abroad, pero balik-showbiz? Huwag na ang isa sa mga bituing aktres na si Ms. Susan Roces whose screen presence may be a rarity, pero ang korona bilang Reyna ng Philippine Movies ay habambuhay nang naka-welding sa kanyang ulo.
Call TV5’s Babaeng Hampaslupa by any name—“kariton” ng mga resurrected actors—pero ang karitong ito might just run over its rival programs as it pedals furiously fast in the ratings race.
