Bossa nova queen Sitti once again infects our listening habit with her latest album aptly titled “Contagious” under Warner Music. The album contains 16 tracks including the original song “Is This Love” and covers like “Your Love is King,” “Adia,” “La La Means I Love You,” “No More I Love You’s,” “One on One,” “Till There Was You,” “How Insensitive” and “Dindi.”
Masarap pakinggan ang mga kanta ni Sitti. Her soothing voice calms and relaxes both body and soul. Para kang nasa Boracay ‘pag maganda ang panahon. You’ll surely get hooked once you hear her sing. Sitti has successfully reintroduced bossa nova as a new kind of music to a modern era of listeners. Sitti’s musical influences include bossa nova legends Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Astrud Gilberto, and Gal Costa.
Bilib ako kay Sitti as a singer because not everyone can sing this genre. Sabi ni Sitti, “I try to immerse myself in that world. It’s on a different plane, different world where only the music exists.” Pinaka-challenging daw i-record para sa kanya ang No More I Love You’s which was originally sung by Annie Lennox dahil iba ang kanyang atake sa kanta. Puno raw ng angst si Annie.
Is she threatened by other artists? “Hindi naman. I don’t think of threats. Kahit noong may lumabas nang ibang bossa nova artists. Hindi dahil walang dapat ikatakot but I choose not to.”
Sitti is a versatile artist. Kahit kilala na siya bilang bossa nova queen ng bansa ay hindi siya natatakot na sumubok sa ibang larangan. She tries hosting, acting and stage acting. She recently appeared in a cameo role in the indie film Astig. She will soon debut as a theater actress via Atlantis Productions’ Spring Awakening directed by Bobby Garcia.
Echo I W T”p’ isang all-male sing-and-dance group ng Star Circle na kinabibilangan nina Piolo Pascual, Carlos Agassi, Bernard Palanca, at Diether Ocampo.
Makulay rin ang lovelife ni Echo, kabilang sina Angelika dela Cruz, Cindy Kurleto, Kristine Hermosa, at Heart Evangelista sa mga na-link sa kanya. Si Heart ang pinakahuli niyang girlfriend. Marami ang nag-akala na mauuwi ang kanilang relasyon sa altar, pero naghiwalay rin ang dalawa.
Kung hindi abala sa showbiz, isa sa paboritong sports ni Echo ay ang surfing. Nagkaroon din ng banda si Echo na tinawag niyang Jeans. Sa kasalukuyan, meron siyang self-titled solo album. At muli silang magtatambal ni Kristine Hermosa sa baong teleserye ng ABS-CBN na Dahil May Isang Ikaw.
