SCENE-STEALER ANG backless gown with a long train na suot ni Kim Rodriguez (dating Komatsu) sa nakaraang PMPC Star Awards for Movies. Nakopo ng batang aktres ang New Female Discovery award for her noteworthy exposure in the movie Mga Mumunting Lihim.
In real life though, unknown to many, Kim’s well-kept secret lies in her family. Nasa abroad ang kanyang ina, making her discoverer-manager Jenny Molina taking on the surrogate motherhood.
Noong hindi pa gaanong sikat ang noo’y ipinakilala sa isang youth-oriented show ng GMA, her father (na hindi niya kasama) hardly recognized her. Kung tutuusin, nito lang namang gumanap bilang younger sister ni Kris Bernal sa Tagalized Coffee Prince ng GMA did Kim earn her father’s attention.
Since then, Kim became a household name, perhaps making it the yardstick for GMA na pagkatiwalaan siya ng bagong proyekto tungkol sa ahas, ang Kakambal ni Eliana. “Ganito pala po ‘pag medyo gumaganda nang konti ang career, dumarami ang mga kamag-anak,” sabi ni Kim whose father can be likened to a snake na pumupulupot na rin sa kanya ngayong sikat na siya.
Tulad ng isang scaly snake, “nakaliskisan” agad ni Kim ang “kamandag” ng ilang kadugo who are now slithering out of their snakepit.
HINDI MALINAW ang dahilan kung bakit napaiyak si John Lloyd Cruz sa grand presscon ng post-Lenten offering ng Star Cinema, ang It Takes a Man and a Woman. Since the film by Cathy Garcia-Molina is obviously a love drama, umikot ang mga tanong tungkol sa pag-ibig.
At one point in the proceedings, one of the questions addressed to JLC apparently struck him. Sinundan ‘yon ng obserbasyong he seemed overflowing with joy. Clueless ang mga katabi naming kasamahan sa panulat, but we remarked in unison: “May pinagdaraanan si Lloydie,” referring to either his family or lovelife.
The event shifted to a lighter mood nang tanungin si Sarah if at any point ay niligawan siya ng mahusay na aktor? Sarah said no, but she was later betrayed by her funny comment, to which ang isinagot ni JLC ay, “Alam mo ‘yan!”
Good thing, we were seated right next to a reporter-friend closest to Lloydie. He (kaibigang reporter) was privy to JLC’s aborted courtship. “’Yun ‘yong time na ginagawa nila ‘yung A Very Special Love o You Changed My Life, nagpadala ng pagkain si Lloydie sa bahay nina Sarah. Kaso, na-intercept ni Mommy Divine, kaya hindi ‘yun nakarating sa anak niya,” impormasyon nito.
So, who feasted on the food if Sarah never got to taste it? Sagot ng aming reporter-friend, “Eh, ‘di mga ‘maid of honor’!”
Meanwhile, one of Lloydie’s shocking revelations was his plan to retire early. Now 29, hindi pa raw tiyak ng aktor kung sa anong edad niya balak nang tumalikod sa showbiz. “I’d like to spend more years with my family and my would-be family, as in quality time with them.”
And this includes spending as much time partaking of the food on the table, at the same time appreciating it, ‘di ba, Mommy Divine?
