Things You Didn’t Know About Andrea Brillantes

ANDREA BRILLANTES has been a staple in our primetime viewing since she was a young child. Doing various gags and skits for the national television, she earned a respectable fan base as the cute and bubbly kid on television.

As she grows into a young, beautiful woman, Andrea began to choose the roles she plays critically. Starting as a child actress, she has now ventured into doing family dramas and even psychological thrillers.

Now that she’s eighteen years old with a grand debut,  let us go back and see how far Andrea had gone – from a young girl to a budding beautiful woman. Here are the things you may not know about Andrea Brillantes.

EARLY LIFE

Andrea was born Anndrew Blythe Daguio Gorostiza on March 12, 2003  in Taytay, Rizal, Philippines. She has two sisters and a brother, but is reportedly most close to her sister Kayla Aan Daguio Gorostiza. Most of the time, they are even mistaken as twins.

CAREER BEGINNINGS and BREAKTHROUGH

When she was seven year old, she began appearing in the children gag television show Goin Bulilit. She was a mainstay on that show from 2010 to 2013. Her popularity on the show allowed her to land numerous projects on the side – appearing in various shows.

Her first non-Goin’ Bulilit project was on the romance series Precious Hearts Romance Presents: Alyna as Sofia Alvaro in 2010. From there, she appeared in prime time television shows and series such as Budoy(2011), Maalaala Mo Kaya (2011), Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012), Wansapanataym (2012), Nandito Ako (2012) and Kahit Pusoy’s Masugatan (2012). Although she mostly played the younger versions of the main characters, this paved the way for her to be noticed nationwide.

After years and years of accepting supporting roles, Andrea finally landed her main lead role in the television drama series Annaliza, a remake of the 1980 series which stared Julie Vega. Andrea playing the lead role of Annaliza won her the Best Child Performer Award at the 27th PMPC Star Awards for TV.

In 2014, she was casted as one of the main roles in the family television drama Hawak Kamay as Lorraine Magpantay- Agustin, opposite veteran actors like Piolo Pascual, Iza Calzado and Nikki Gil. In 2015, she joined the all-star studded cast of the iconic Philippine television drama Pangako Sa’Yo as Lia Buenavista.

 

CURRENT PROJECTS

THE GOLD SQUAD: Kyle Echaverri, Francine Diaz, Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedellin

Last year, she just recently wrapped up her role as Margaret Monragon-Bartolome in the 3-year running, highly acclaimed drama Kadenang Ginto.

This year, she is set to return in the drama romance fantasy series Huwag Kang Mangamba, directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng. Andrea will play the lead role Mirea and will be acting with Seth Fedelin, Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri. The drama is set to premier on the 22nd of March and will be aired via The Filipino Channel.

AWARDS AND NOMINATIONS

Andrea Brillantes

Andrea was recently nominated and won the Best Young Actress award by the 7th Urduja Heritage Film Awards for her work in the psychological horror film Banal. She played the role of Rothea Del Rosario, one of the youths hiking towards a sacred mountain peppered with paranormal hauntings.

She is not new to being nominated and awarded for her work in the industry. In 2014, she received several nominations for her work in Hawak Kamay, which includes Yahoo Celebrity Awards (Child Star of the Year), 10th ASAP Pop Viewers’ Choice Awards (Pop Teen Popsies) and 28th PMPC Star Awards for TV (Best Child Performer).
