Those iconic lines are from our very own Bretman Rock, a true blue Ilocano making waves in the entertainment world from the comforts of his home base- Hawaii.
Although I have known Bretman Rock way before (when he was still in high school), watching him over the years succeeding, reaching his dreams while still staying to his roots is something highly commendable. With various collaborations with make-up brands, other artists, and now his very own reality show, let us know more about Bretman Rock, a true blue Ilocano and insanely funny, witty personality.
EARLY LIFE
Bretman was born as Bretman Rock Sacayanan on July 31, 1998 in Sanchez-Mira, Cagayan Valley, Philippines. He got his name from professional wrestling stars Bret Hart and The Rock, of whom his late father was a fan of. He moved to Hawaii when he was seven years old to be with his mother and his other siblings.
He studied at the Campbell High School and was on the track team. He also played various sports such as baseball, volleyball, soccer and cross country. His father died in 2019 after being in a coma. His sister occasionally appears on his videos together with his sister, Princess Mae and niece, Cleo.
VINE/YOUTUBE CAREER
He started his career in the video sharing platforms Vine and YouTube where he was originally a comedian and meme creator. He then shifted to creating makeup tutorials and beauty tips. One of his contouring videos went viral in 2016 and that launched his career. His inspiration are Talia Joy and Patrick Starrr.
Currently, his channel – Bretman Rock, has over 8 million subscribers. He expanded his contents to mukbangs, house tour, daily life and others. Apart from his mother and sister, Miss K (his cousin and personal assistant), often appears in his witty and unfiltered videos.
MAKEUP AND COLLABORATIONS
As an influencer, he has collaborated with a lot of product lines and artists. One of his first collaboration was with the make-up giant Morphe. He has the Babe In Paradise highlighter palette that features 6 shades and a custom fan brush.
He also has an entire set of product which was a collaboration with the famous Wet n Wild cosmetics. Announced just a day after Valentine’s day last year, this Jungle Rock Collection included an eyeshadow palette, mascara, brush set, 3 lip- glosses, highlighter pair, setting spray in a cute and quirky bag.
He also had another major collaboration with ColourPop which features his Filipin heritage. “Lit” which features fire and warmed toned makeup and “Wet” which features blue shades and pearly lip gloss.
He attended his first New York Fashion Week show where he collaborated with the famous stylist Andrew Gelwicks.
MTV SHOW
Last January of 2021, MTV announced that Bretman Rock is their newest reality star. He is appearing in a reality show called MTV’s Following: Bretman Rock. The first episode was aired on the channel’s official Youtube account. The show is set to release new episodes every Mondays. The entire show is set in Hawaii, where he is based.
